Lonely Planet New Zealand's South Island (Travel Guide) Paperback – November 1, 2014

I got this book for my mom, were planning a family trip next Feb and she loves this book, she reads it everyday and has really come across some great content for our trip, I asked her and she says she highly recommends this book.Work picking up. Great photos and knowledge for planning your trip. She said she read a part where they talk about what times to avoid bus tours so the author or authors are very knowledgeable about the area.

Lonely Planet continues to author some of the best travel guides that I have read. This is yet another. It is easy to follow and well written with updates on restaurants, accommodations, and things to see and do. It doesn't get any better.

This is a very handy travel book for the south island . It is compact and will travel easily with me.

Great book, with loads of information about what not to miss, with maps to help you work out where everything is. The book takes you though each different area in the south Island, so it's easy to jump straight to the bits you're visiting or that you're most interested in. It's really well written, they've balanced detail and a gentle humour to provide some very atmospheric descriptions.I also liked the 'Understand the South Island' section at the back which takes you through a potted history, the environment Maori culture, the kiwi psyche and arts and music. Thanks to it's handy picture of the New Zealand sockets look like, I've realised I need to buy some new adapters!This is a step above the sort of thing I've bought before that are all photos and no substance.

Came highly recommended and certainly, although it lacks glossy photographs (which in my view are unnecessary) it is full of imformative content which will serve me well for my trip to South Island. Good internal local maps and plenty of touristic recommendations and advice. All in All seeems to be excellent. Delivery was spot on - within 48 hours.

Just brilliant, full of fantastic info, so easy to read it's the best purchase we have made in preparation for our holiday. I recommend everyone making the trip gets this book, my wife won't put it down.
