Not something I would get again as a gift. Although this was for my 5 year old nephew who is into gadgets and spy gear etc. The edges on the metal are a bit harsh on the fingers so I’m a little hesitant. I put a little electric tape over the lip for opening purposes hoping it helps him to open, as it’s not smooth to open. I was hoping it would come in something nicer. It will serve its purpose if you’re looking for a cheap compass. But not if you’re looking to gift one to someone.

The cover lifts off like the box Lara in GOLDE COMPASS used to keep her compass. Thes compass is accurate and it even has a glow in the dark band encirling the outer edge. Grand kids think that's the best part.

It did not glow in the dark as promised

Great little compass in hard brass case that will fit about anywhere for everyday, camping, hiking, cycling, etc. I put a small lanyard on it and can attach it to almost anything. It will also fit in your watch pocket. Accurate enough for my needs.

Not nice enough to give as a gift

This is a toy not a real compass. You can buy one for your 3 year old and tell him this is how a compass looks like but don't expect this toy to function at all.

I got this for my kids to use for homeschool learning. I wanted something nice looking but very very simple and this is just what I was looking for.

I really wanted something that worked. I should have known it was too good to be true. i'm not very happy with it. it does not work for navigation. i guess a kid can use it to pretend.
