If you are new to differentiating instruction this book is a must have !
This book is an excellent starting point for teachers who are interested in using a menu approach to differentiate instruction. This particular book was geared toward the area of science for inclusive classrooms on the K-2 level but other books are available for a variety of subject areas and ability levels.There are many features that the author included that showed she intended for this book to be a useful and informative resource for teachers . She not only included a description of each type of menu but she includes its benefits and limitations. She addresses factors such as time considerations , learning styles , ability levels and she also gives helpful hints to help teachers modify the menus and also avoid pitfalls that might cause frustration . A variety of sample menus from different areas of science are included as well as a detailed explanation of how to use the menus.As a third grade teacher, I can easily see how the combination of this book and the books geared to other ability levels would help me address a wide variety of learning styles and ability levels in my classroom.
