When you "shoot" it, it'll dispense a fake little cartridge and shell like it's actually "shooting", it's very cleverly designed. Of course it isn't realistic but the thought behind making the pieces interact in the way in which they do makes it realistic seeming. Anyway, it's a great prop, my kids love it.
