Hmmm... I bought this particular unit because of the removable liner for easy cleaning. First the box had a red cup pictured and it was listed as red but it was blue. That was fine because I didn't care about the color. I was in my glory for about 35 minutes of travel with the cup functioning as described hovering up and down at my programmed 130 degrees. Then I stopped somewhere (lighter shuts off with ignition), came back out and started the car. The the cup now had a temperature displayed but no green heat step light... I turned up the default 120 degrees on the display to 130 and watched it climb slowly. 125, 130, 135, 140 and it just kept going! Unplugged it at 145 +/- degrees and waited a couple of minutes and plugged it back in and now there was NOTHING! No display, no heat, just dead. Why??? Because, America, you'll buy anything! I will return this.

I've been using and buying this brand of electric coffe mugs for many years. I use it every day and generally they last about one year before the element will burn out. I really liked this cup for many years even though I had to replace it every year or so. However, this time I bought two of these and they have cheapened up the cup dramatically. The original cup was well built and sturdy. These new "improved" models are really junk. The handle broke clean off in two days of use. I couldn't believe it when the handle fell off as it is now just glued on. Also, they just had to change the diameter of the power cord slightly so my older cords no longer work. The plastic is now so flimsy you can see light through it. I'm just lucky when the handle fell off the coffee was still cold as it fell into my lap in my car.

I bought a couple of these as gifts in Dec. 2011 at $19.95 EACH through Amazon Prime. I kept one and I loved using it. It worked great and it kept my coffee pretty hot. Here it is almost 3 years later and I want to buy another for a friend and the *&%! Price is $55.00!!!!!! FOR ONE?!?!? Obviously a rip off at this point. It isn't worth $55 I will tell you that! There is no difference between this one and the silver one which is currently selling for $26 on Amazon Prime. Seriously Amazon! Why the rip off price just because you claim you have one red one left on the shelf???? Most stores mark their last one down so they can go ahead and get rid of it if they aren't going to restock it!!!

It's ok. Mom barely used it for her travels in the car. She never complained, but it wasn't used as much as I thought it would have been. Now collects dust on the counter as she uses her mug from Dunkin Donuts, which is so uncool, it's not temperature controlled. Doesn't she understand that this is the future... ugh mom time to get out of the 80's damnit.

The smart mug sounded great, but it didn't hold the temperature very high, even when the temperature control was tuned to maximum. In just a few days part of the display quit working, and the power plug to the cup was a little awkward the way it stuck straight out so far.I reluctantly returned the cup, and still have not found a car mug to keep drinks warm satisfactorily.

worked great at first. i thought, this is great now i don't have to drink cold coffee ever again. well after 2 months now it stopped working. it just says HI on the cup display and beeps saying the coffee is over temperature when its not. now my coffee is just keeps getting colder and colder. man wish i had bought a different brand of cup.

A couple of things to note.1. If you were thinking the mug is stainless steel. It is not, rubber outer and the base has rubber, which works pretty good too, very soft when you put it down.2. You actually pay $28.50 for this mug including shipping and tax. So you are not actually spending around $20.3. It really works! gets your drink hot all the way from cold. I did it with milk and stopped at 120F was nicely hot, you can go to 160F i think.4. Takes a while to heat up. Not in a flash, but not too long either.5. It wont keep your drinks hot for too long like a stainless steel thermos when not plugged in.Cheers.

The coffee mug works very well so long as the outside is kept dry. That means when you wash it only wash the inside!! ANY water on the control panel causes the LCD display to stop working. Once it gets dry again; 30 minutes in your car with the windows rolled up on a hot day will do; it works again. Given other reviews I've read, I would not leave it plugged in with no coffee in it either.
