English Electric Lightning (FlightCraft) Paperback – March 3, 2017

This book has nearly everything a model builder could want, and a very good history of the Lightning as well. A staggering number of pictures show the Lightning from beginning to end of her life, in all marks, in all guises. The color profiles are very well done and should be welcome on the walls of many a Lightning addicts home. And finally there is quite the good modelers section in the back of the book that covers the history of kitting the Lightning by manufacturer and scale.Now then, Mr. Derry, where are the volumes on the Canberra and Buccaneer?Highly recommended!

Excellent help for modeling and history.

I have wanted a book on the Lightning for many years but have never got round to it before now. I have my favorite aircraft from different periods (Albatros D1 to DV for WW1, Spitfire, Mosquito and Lancaster for WW2 etc) and the Lightning is definitely my favorite Jet. Lots and lots of books on Spitfires and Albatros but only stuff on the Lightning were in general RAF books. Reading reviews I opted for this book. I have skimmed through it and am pleasantly pleased with it. I chose it as it sounded similar to two of the books I have on the Spitfire (although I can now see that they are a bit more comprehensive) and I did not want to go into super high depth profiles at present.A bit more detail on the history and changes would be desirable for me but this does fit other reviews so I have nothing to complain about. Once I have read this I expect that I will opt to get a more in-depth book although these are probably the out of print ones on the collector market.

Fantastic book crammed with excellent quality photos. As well as discussing the history of the various marks of lightning, there are sections of models available with reviews and also discussion with illustration of markings and what paint types were used plus plenty of colour three view drawings. A must for modelling the lightning in any form.

Have a number of books in this series, mainly RAF subjects. Eexcellent quality and lots of helpful info around modelling the Lightning in all popular scales. Highly recommended.
