Condiment, not snack food
I've read reviews saying these taste "sweet" and "like licorice," advising you to eat them whole and plain, as if they were a snack food along the lines of candy or fruit. These people are out of their ever loving minds. A wonderful condiment that's sure to kick any savory dish into overdrive, black garlic on its own is too much of a good thing.This is to garlic what cheese is to milk, and since garlic starts out a lot less bland than milk, it packs a wallop of a punch. Eaten plain, the flavor is overwhelming. Neither sweet nor mild, the predominant taste note is sourness. I found these peeled cloves intensely tangy, pungent, savory, and smoky, with a gelatinous texture.Don't get me wrong; this is good stuff. Black garlic is delicious. It's just a condiment or recipe ingredient rather than a food unto itself.Eat just one and you'll still be tasting garlic the next day, so I don't think you should believe the claims that they won't give you bad breath, either.

TASTES GREAT!!!
I have been amazed by the uniformity of this Black Garlic. Every clove within & across each of the batches that I've received, were all fully peeled & aged to perfection (imho). They are chewy, sweet & delicious, do not have the sharp aftertaste of fresh raw garlic & do NOT cause "garlic breath!" My kids, who dislike garlic, thought this (Black Garlic) was dried fruit when I first had them try it! It can also be mashed & used as a delicious spread, & mixed with healthy (Flax or other such) oil & herbs/spices for variety. Please note that I suffer from acid reflux (GERD) & can not eat raw garlic, but I can eat this Black Garlic with meals & even in-between meals (as a snack), & it hasn't once repeated on me. Suffice to say that, as cooking garlic destroys too many of the nutritional benefits, & raw garlic is difficult to tolerate, eating this BLACK GARLIC may very well be one of the best ways to receive the many benefits of eating garlic!

Quality and Quantity!
This black garlic looks nice and fresh (for a fermented product) and offers a generous amount that will last a while. Nice strong Umami garlic flavor. It kind of smells and tastes like beef bullion and roasted garlic combined. This is something you really can't chop up like fresh garlic. It is rubbery and tar like; that's just black garlic though, not specific to this product. I haven't tried this yet, but I think if you put it in a small food processor with some flavorless oil you can make a paste that can more readily incorporate or homogenize into your recipes. Like mentioned before, it is very sticky and does not dice up to easily. Once exposed to the heat of my sauce for a bit, I was able to break it up with a wooden spoon.

Great Product! Great Taste!
Black Garlic from Culinary Elite was received in two days...super fast! Packaged well and tastes great! I eat it straight from the container. I'll give the fifth star when Culinary Elite includes product care info in packaging such as where to store garlic (i.e. in cabinet, in fridge, room temperature) so that it won't spoil and a link to a couple of recipes they recommend that call for the use of black garlic. Overall I am a VERY, VERY, VERY satisfied customer. I highly recommend purchasing this product.

No vampires here . . .
A sweeter, milder taste, and they say it has more of those beneficial things that garlic is said to supply. I bought a couple of packages to share w/friends and family, since this product comes with A LOT of garlic cloves. I liked that they were already peeled too - Trader Joe's was my first introduction to black garlic but theirs you had to peel and it was a hassle. No hassle with this. I do roll it in a pinch of flour to keep it from sticking on the knife edge when I dice it up.

Fun to try!
For those wanting to experiment with a new health food and/or cooking ingredient, this is definitely a fun one! I can't say that I'm a huge fan of the flavor, and it doesn't particularly make me feel healthy when I consume it. It was a fun little culinary adventure, though, and I used it all up! Also, I feel like this is not actually 11 bulbs worth of garlic; I would estimate more like 5 heads.

Good garlic!
During cold & flu season I have garlic & honey twice a day. In the mirnings when I am in a rush to get out the door, it is nice to not have to take the time to cut up a clove of garlic. I can just pop one of these in my mouth and chew it. Very interesting flavor, and it's great to know it has double the antioxidants.

Not nearly 11 bulbs...
This was okay but we have ordered whole bulbs before and tried to split this up by 1/5 to get the equivalent of two bulbs but it was not nearly enough. We probably needed half of it to be the equivalent of two whole bulbs. My wife says to buy the whole bulbs in the future.
