So far so good. The dog has pushed it across the kitchen floor but so far hasn't been able to figure out how to open it. Unfortunately it is also hard for people with arthritis to open as well but it's worth the effort.

If there was a zero star option, I would choose that. It definitely is not worth one star in terms of quality or effectiveness. This garbage can weighs maybe 5 lbs? The silver part slides & locks the lid in place. However, if you have a medium or large dog, they can either 1. Open the latch themselves or 2. Just drag the whole garbage can across the house so they can work on it in comfort. Our Springer Spaniel chose option 2... imagine coming home to a living room full of kitchen garbage all over the carpet. Garbage can lasted less than 5 hours. If he hadn’t scratched it while opening it I would have sent the thing back. Even when it’s full of garbage it’s so light that the whole garbage can moves when you step on the foot lever. This can is not even worth $20 let alone the price we paid for it. This by far my most disappointing purchase through Amazon probably ever.

Kept my dog out of the trash for a fill three days before she was able to figure out how to open in. Flimsy and light so it is easily knocked over by my 25 lb dog. Black plastic isn’t even terribly attractive. Was sorry I spent the money.

Finally I can keep my trash in the dog proof locking trash can. It is fun watching my dog trying to figure out why she can not open the can.

There is no way this can should be almost 100.00. Mine is going back, cheap flimsy plastic

This is not dog proof for big dogs. We have a 4 year old English Bulldog and while having this locked can deter him, if he is left to his own devices he is fully capable of bending back the lid and pulling the bag out. It has become my opinion that nothing plastic can be truly dog proof. There are now so many teeth marks in the lid we are on the lookout for a new trashcan that will, hopefully, actually keep our big boy out. This is a good trash can and I love the locking feature to keep it closed when it's getting a little full but not full enough to take out. But if you have a medium to large sized dog, look elsewhere.
