DON'T MAKE THE AQUASTRONG MISTAKE! READ ON!
The question they pose is "What should other customers know?" Well, HERE'S what you should know! DON'T! I am a firm believer in five star reviews for a good product but THIS is a piece of junk! I have owned this pump for two months and had it installed for far less than that. The pump is brand new and resides in premium conditions and already the valve handle head is cracked. Now for those who don't know the inner workings of a pool pump (and frankly, thanks to Aquastrong, I was one of you but now know way more than I ever wanted to), the valve handle head (or base) is a part of the pump that, once installed, you should never have to worry about again. It's just there, holding up the valve handle. Now I have water gushing out of my pool. According to the professionals I was forced to consult, this issue is a result of a defect in manufacturing. I have had Aquastrong pumps before and frankly, really wanted to love this one. But having spent (what to me is) a fortune on this one, I am very frustrated and disappointed. I expected more out of a company like Aquastrong. A fellow Aquastrong customer posted on June 9th "I have had this pump for a little over a month and every fitting has leaked and now the top has a crack in it so I have not been able to run this pump for my pool in a week. I had a pool company come by today and look it to make sure it wasn't the seal under the ball valve and nope as soon as they took one look at it, they immediately saw the crack." I'm sure there are others but I sure wish I wasn't one of them. Now here I am out all that money and water gushing out of my pool and into my yard. Please don't make the same mistake.

Don't buy!
Why did you pick this product vs others?: We ordered this item in advance of our pool being set up and once set up it only worked for a week! Twice the hoses fell off and we lost our pool water. After fixing that, the valve CRACKED and is junk. We got 1 week out of this product. We are outside our 30 return window and can't even return. We've owned it 5 weeks only!

Such a major upgrade from those "Coffee Filter" type Intex Pool Filters.
This Bad Boy took a whopping 20 or 25 minutes to fully assemble. I opted to try this new-fangled filter media that consists of a big bag of what looks like snowball sized cotton balls, much like an aquarium filter. I dumped them in the big tank, and thanks to the lightweight alternative to play sand, I could carry the whole filter without breaking a sweat! The kit is well made, everything fits well, and they do gove you a couple sets of connectors, so don't freak out if you have a few extra. It all depends on What your particular pool uses for hoses. The filter that came with My 24' x 12' Intex pool was essentially a coffee can sized corrugated filter, and a little anemic pump which moved far less water that the amount of noise it made would suggest. It would work well for about 2 days, then I'd have to empty all of the beetles, spiders, acorns, and leaves out of it. It was just too small for this size pool. (not to mention the fact that those filters cost about $14 each, and last a week at best. This filter is a 2/3 H.P. motor / pump, with a large filter tank, strainer, and backwash system. It's a scaled down version of what you'd get with an expensive professionally installed pool. I think it's still a tad under the recommended size for My pool capacity, but it's close enough! I've made due with those crummy filters for 3 years, so this is by all accounts going to be a "night and day" difference. I'm also trying a salt water system this year, so while no pool is "maintenance free", the prospect of not having to go out and do a pool water drop test every couple days to get My chemicals right kind of excites me! This looks to be an excellent solution for a medium to large easy set pool. I'll let you know how it's going come mid-summer.

leaking water, but taken care of
we had a problem with the top of the unit leaking water. I set up for a return. They got back to me right away. Three options, 50% credit back, a replacement of the current stock or wait for the new updated part, which might be a couple of weeks. I chose the new part and sat back to wait......... But, it arrived in a week or so. They kept me informed the whole way. Very impressed.

We love this pool filter!
This pool filter has been excellent for our 16 foot above ground pool. It is very efficient and runs quietly when in operation. It keeps insects and debris out of our pool by circulating them to the skimmer, keeping our pool debris-free and crystal clear. It circulates our pool chemicals appropriately and does not overheat when in use during hot summer days. Highly recommend.
