CREAM

Well, this is a nice surprise. From the cover I was expecting some kind of dodgy group of J-Pop teen pixies; all cutesy and cloyingly annoying. In reality it's a raw Pixies meets T-Rex boogie with Sonic Youth alt.rock grunge sheen.I should have known better as Mean Machine is an all girl super group made up of Yuki (solo artist, former vocalist of Judy And Mary one of the best J-Rock bands of recent times), Chara (solo artist), Yukarie (saxophonist from The Thrill), Ayumi Chiwaki (musician, DJ), and Ayumi Ito (actress). And if the thought of a Japanese all-girl super group loaded with girls who rock out and look cute doing it is baffling, it's also pretty enticing. Especially when you consider the ethos behind Mean Machine was to have fun and play an instrument you've never played before!`Cream' was released in November 2001 and didn't break any sales figures but don't let that put you off. The guitars are rough and harsh with a metallic tinge to the glam rock riffage; they stomp along creating an infectious vibe. The `rough around the edges' Sonic Youth bluster gives the whole sound an almost demo tape quality (which is a good thing.) The female vocals are surprisingly passionate and as natural as they are cute; there is a playfulness to Ayumi's voice that's captivating even though I have no idea what she's singing.And you don't need to know what they're singing about; Rock n Roll is an international language. `Cream' fizzes along on a vibe that you can't help but enjoy. And though hardly groundbreaking, it's exciting in exactly the way you want Rock n Roll to be; mindless and primal.Good stuff :o)

無茶苦茶かっこいいアルバムでした!中途半端な商業ロックが嫌いな私にとって、この作品はバリバリのヘビーなロックアルバムでした!なんだか売れ線狙いのメロウな甘いロックが横行している昨今の日本の男子のロックより、断然女子のバンドがシンプルでヘビーなバンドサウンドを追求していると個人的に思います。楽器の演奏ができない私には、ただただ曲を聴くだけなんですが、プロのミュージシャンの方たちが敢えてチャレンジ精神で新しい事にトライしたこのアルバムが好きです。情熱とアイデアと昔のブルースロックを感じます。

チャラさんの作曲も良いですが、ちわきさんの作った曲のイナタさにジワジワ来ます。ライブ見たかったなー

コンセプトは、やったことのない楽器を演奏すること。でもね、だからあまり上手に演奏できていない。インディーズのバンドかと思っちゃう。楽曲が、それほどいいわけでもなく。コンセプトには無理があったかな。

中古ということでしたが、綺麗で満足です＾＾曲は、それぞれの作詞・作曲で聞いていてとてもおもしろいです。何度もリピートして聞いています。

前に同じものをもっていたのに中身だけなくなってしまっていた。今回お安く購入できてよかったです
