Good automotive electronic and electrical manual. Up to date
This is the most up-to-date book that I could find. Excellent coverage starting with the basics but quickly moves on to dvom and scopes .do not by from Amazon Canada way to expensive. Bought from Amazon USA. 97. Bucks. You get a soft cover book for theory and a spiral bound book for case study. Little bit disappointed with spiral bound book because it's very big and fragile. Easy to rip out pages. If you are looking to get in to automotive electronic diagnostics this is the books for you.

The contents presented are good. But I don't like the coil spring binding style of 2nd book (Shop Manual), the paper sheets could be easily ripped off from the coil, and it makes me unconvenient to hold on my hand. I think the Shop Manual book won't last long for that weakness. I need it to be bound with nylon cord+glue, like dictionary binding style.

The Holy Bible of Automotive Electrical Systems
This is an extremely comprehensive and well organized book. The author and publishers have paid strict attention to detail in creating this large 2 volume set and it really shows when you start to read through it. The books themselves are massive, as the class manual is over 500 pages and the companion shop manual exceeds 800 pages!!! But where this book truly shines is in the layout. You are provided with a basic introduction of electricity and each chapter builds from the previous regarding automotive electronics. Topics range from interpreting wiring diagrams, to lighting systems, to on-board computers, starting and charging systems, and so on. What I like most about this layout of the Today's Technician series is that the class manual explains the principles of operation of each system, while the shop manual gives the "hands on repair info", and the class manual even has corresponding notes linking each chapter and page number to a specific page/chapter in the shop manual when it comes to diagnosis and repair, so you can quickly apply what you've learned to real world examples and repairs. This streamlines learning.. at least for me anyway. I have other automotive repair books from different authors and publishers and in my opinion none of them can match the overall thoroughness and detail that the Today's Technician series offers. Expensive? Absolutely, but worth it if you want to learn all about cars and how to fix them. This is the only automotive electronics book you will ever need to buy.

Lot's of information and lots of holes in critical information
The books covers a lot of material. However, they leave a lot out all together. I'll give just one example and you can take it from there. How can a book called Automotive Electricity and Electronics NOT COVER something as simple and as critical as O-2 sensors to a modern car?
