WAY Exceeded My Expectations
I sent the lantern to a dear friend of mine as a gift. She had said she would like to have a solar lantern for her balcony.I searched through lots and lots of listings for a solar lantern. When I read the descriptions I was disappointed...too small; took batteries; poor reviews, etc. When I read the description for this one, I liked what I read. I even got a ruler out and tried to guesstimate the actual size of it. It seemed adequate. It was a bit more $ than I wanted to pay, but she is worth it. So, I ordered it. When she received it she was so excited about it! Of course, she had to let it charge up in the sunshine...[she substituted putting it under a lamp in her living room]. A week or so later, I was able to visit her and I was AMAZED by the size of the lantern. It was the size of how you would want a typical lantern to be...at least in my opinion. But even more, it was really pretty with the tiny lights instead of a single light. I was quite impressed! Right now, she's keeping it indoors under the light to recharge it. When it gets to be spring, she will put it outside. I plan to order one for myself before spring. Of course, it is "decorative" and couldn't be used to light a path for your feet! But if it's ambiance that you're looking for, stop right now and order this lantern.

Very attractive and functional
I love solar gadgets, and this is a really nice one. The construction and finish on the metal and glass is very high quality, like a lot of commercial-grade light fixtures. It's simple to set up, and the light lasts for most of the night each night. It provides as much light as a nightlight, but isn't much to see by on its own. It's a gorgeous decoration, though. My only complaint is that the included battery is only secured by pressure, and has to be closed carefully to avoid knocking it out of place. Assuming you don't move this around much, it's a flaw that won't come into play often.

Beautiful but....
Hung this in my zen garden for a sort of "fireflies in a jar" look. Looked great for 3 nights. Then stopped working. If I mess around with the wiring it lights up for a few minutes, then dies. Gets 7-8 hours of direct sunlight and other solar lights just fine, so it isn't the clouds' fault. Hoping it gets over its mood and works again. We'll see...or actually, maybe we won't....

Large, bright
This is a truly beautiful lantern. I thought mine was broken, but it needed a full day's sun before coming alive at night. This was a good buy and gift for this xmas.

As Advertised
The lights are beautiful as is the lantern design. It doesn't last as long into the night as I'd hoped. In full sun the evening light lasts 2-3 hours at most before dimming

Not worth the money.
Looked great for about six months and then illumination time decreased (even on days of FULL sun). When the first one started to fail I swapped out the rechargeable batteries to see if I could make the failure move to the other lamp. No-go. Same results so lead me to believe it's the solar panels. Cleaned them with warm water and a soft towel but still no improvement. The only reason I'm giving two stars is because they looked great during the summer when my kids came out for a visit. Cheap Chinese electronic junk although the housing is good......Will hold on to the in hopes I can figure a way to repurpose the boxes.

very pretty
I bought two for myself and 2 each for my daughters. They really like them although one did not light up. Make sure you check them in plenty of time before your time runs out on returns. Each of my daughter has one that did not light up. They are very beautiful, just enough lighting when working.

Quality
Its a great lantern, nice metal with mini solar strand lights inside. I put it out about 4:00 p.m. in the afternoon, so got maybe 4 hours of sunlight and it came on after the sun set. Its pretty and bright. I would purchase again. I have mine hanging in my flower garden on a shepherds hook. Recommend!
