HdtvHookup 16 Post 8 Speaker Wall Plate

For upgrading from 9:1 to 13:1 sound, it became a necessity to go through the wall with 8 two conductor speaker cables. In my experience, the best way to go is with banana connectors. The pressure required to solidly make the connection necessitates need for a "screw in the hole" (as this wall plate is) fitting application over a quick port arrangement. The finished product with this wall plate is functional and attractive, in my opinion the way to go.The only negative (minus 1 star) is on the back side of the connectors, the screw cap should be slotted for tightening purposes. In my house, I have no particular desire to remove an assembly to re-tighten something that should be "assemble and forget". It's behind the wall, in a little box with sixteen 14 gauge wires with twisted and soldered tips, no bananas there. So, come on Hookup.com. Let's see some slotted caps on the back side!! Quarter size would work fine. In the meantime, future fellow owners of this product, get yourself some narrow tipped vice grips.In closing, I would like to suggest Media Bridge banana connectors. The banana tips of Media Bridges connectors are of the solid type, not swivel as the "other guys" market. It's an electrical connection, you don't want loose/swivel there, you want solid one piece construction.

I used these terminals and wall plate for a multi-room audio install. I needed something with 16 posts that wasn't pre-labeled for surround sound and couldn't find anything at my local home improvement store that would work.The termains are solidly built and the pate is cleanly finished and fits over the terminals perfectly. You get everything you need for install if you're willing to screw it directly to the wall or have an electrical box already installed. I used a two gang low voltage wall bracket for mine to hold the plate more securely and leave myself plenty of room in the wall cavity for the wires.The terminals are the same on the back as on the front and simply screw out to reveal holes to insert the speaker wire and then you screw them back down onto the wire (see user picture). You can also use banana plugs (which I did for the front). The terminals are pretty close together so getting all the wires inserted and tightened down can take a bit of dexterity. The holes for the wires are also located on the top and bottom of each post, rather than on the sides which makes inserting the wires tricky as well. Holes on the sides would have made more sense to me.Overall though this was the perfect way to clean up the install and it's working great. I would purchase this plate again in a heartbeat.

I needed two of these to group a cable clump coming out of my living room wall. What a mess it was. This is a great product, the female connectors are well made. My only objection is that the plugs are placed very close together, and wiring them with #12 stranded wire can be a chore. It just takes time and cutting the wire sheath for the right length of bare wire is a prerequisite to make wiring go faster.

Provides solid speaker connections. The terminals on the back are the same as the terminals on the front. Wire entry was set to vertical on mine. Loosened terminal nut on rear to re-orient (60/120 left/right). Having a complete terminal on the rear for something that should never require banana plugs is over-engineering, but this product does work well.

Functional - it works. But not much to be said beyond that (its classic cheap switchplate plastic) Certainly an exercise in dexterity getting all the pins wired

Gold posts are not mounted on the plates when you receive them. They require to be unscrewed then mounted on the plate. Plan ahead the direction of the speaker wire holes. 3 of the gold terminals did not have colors on them. Solid build but additional time to assemble.

I bought this to be used for the speakers I have scattered throughout the house. They work well, sound is great. No issues.

Great for four speakers. Be careful not to allow wires to short. I inserted a piece of plastic coat hanger between the screw posts on the back just in case.
