Tortoises Paperback – September 1, 2009

It's probably the best Tortoise Beginner Book out there.The info is very basic, well written , easy to understand and has lots of pictures.It tells you more things about tortoises than most of the other "BEGINNER TORTOISE CARE BOOKS", that Amazon sells.But, like the name of the book states, it's only for people with a very basic knowledge of Tortoises.If you want the ultimate Turtles and Tortoises book, look for TURTLES OF THE WORLD by Franck Bonin.

Had information about Tortoises from other parts of the world....I was interested in finding out more about Mohave Desert Tortoises since I was thinking of adopting one from the local sanctuary. This book is good if buy one from a pet store.

Not the most detailed book but it was helpful to give us an overview.

If you wanna save time just get this book, everything is inside and it's much easier reading it than looking it all up on the internet.

it shows a lot of stuff you would never think of. if your planning on getting a tortoise id get a beginners book and read up on having one before you just go out and get one. theres a lot of good stuff in the book about feedings, sleeping, and care. please get a book before you get a tortoise.

Very informative on tortoises. I got it because I couldn't find a book specifically on Russians that was informative in what I was looking for. This one is a basic overview in all tortoise needs.

I've been using it for years, and, was always able to purchase it in the markets until about a year ago when it disappeared from the shelves. I was very upset as it is a great decaf! So glad I have amazon to furnish it for me!

My son has been really interested in Tortoises and we got this book to get better acquainted with them. I think we will wait a while but eventually I think we may get a red footed tortoise. This has been a great introduction to this fun and unique animal.
