Pace SKY HD High Definition receiver TDS850NB Box Sky+

I was called by Sky-Deals and informed that they were unable to supply the Pace box and offered me a newer (Amstrad) version - so not sure why still being advertised here as a Pace box.Leaving that aside, I am very happy with this (Amstrad) unit and it had all the options that I wanted (digtal output, hard drive storage etc.)I had a nightmare session with Sky to get the card synchronised taking over two hours before it was resolved.It should have been a ten minute job (Max), but the call centre is in India and I'm not certain that the operator that I was talking to was completely conversant with the procedures.The box is now up and running and I am very pleased with it. Sky helped me upgrade the software/firmware to the current version (during the marathon) and the interface is clean and has more functionality than the old box. I upgraded to Sky Plus from a standard basic Thompson box.The only criticism I have is that when selecting programmes to view in the planner, the box does not automatically come on - as did my last box. Nor does it automatically select to the channel that you have programmed in. A notification pops up on the screen but it is up to you to physically press the button to change the channelI have no idea why this functionality was ommitted/pulled, but it is a tad annoying.I've checked around all the settings, but there doesn't appear to be anything that will switch this functionality ON.The supplier Sky-Deals (Nothing to do with Sky I've since found out), were very helpful when at one stage the Sky operator started to think that I had a faulty box.This was not the case.

This is a good option to the other manufactures' units which tend to fail quickly. Pace makes a superior product. The seller shipped the box out quickly and I am using it with no problems.

Arrived on time and with all the required bits. Dead easy to set up as a replacement for my old box, it doesn't need a geek to set it up.. The WiFi element for catch up took about 24 hours to get going so don't despair if yours doesn't work straight away. Everything has been working fine so well pleased with this unit.

I brought this reconditioned box to go in my sons bedroom. Although sold as refurbished it looks and works as if brand new. The technical guys at sky deals where excellent help when I was having trouble getting Sky to pair this box with my existing sky card. My son has been using this box daily and has had no problems with it what so ever.
