Great feed, a little expensive
Overall great and as expected. Hens enjoy it and lay frequently. I did need to add some oyster shell as they started to have very thin fragile eggs but all is good now. Some bags do have a good amount of powder in it as well but sometimes I add a little water to make the most of it.

Chickens looked scruffy & thin-This changed that.
My birds are thriving on this. They are filled out, their feathers beautiful & glossy & the birds are strong & healthy. I noticed they were enjoying the bits that were in their water, so began soaking the feed & that led to fermenting. While I don’t like it - the smell or the mess of feeding- they loved it so much & began to improve so markedly & were very content with this as their morning meal.So I provide it the way they like it. I add herbs & a splash of beef broth and a sprinkle of kelp on serving. And less feed is satisfying them. I also keep crumble in their automatic feeder for their second meal & in case I’m ever out of pocket for mealtime- which hasn’t happened but just in case. Egg production is consistently an egg a day per chicken!! And I love that it’s organic.

Soak overnight to eliminate waste
There is significant powder fines in this feed which is why I can’t imagine not soaking it otherwise you have a lot of waste. I soak overnight in just enough to cover and the grains soak up all the water. My chickens love it and they have laid all winter. Not 5 stars just because of price.

Our girls are happy with their New Country Layer feed
We've been feeding our girls New Country for years now. They are big fans of the actual grains and I appreciate that I can tell what they are eating as opposed to pellets. I like that my hens are eating real food - we used to purchase this locally but haven't been able to find it since our local feed store closed. Being able to have it shipped directly to the house is great. The price is a little higher than what we paid locally, but we understand and don't mind supporting a small business. Great feed that our hens love!

A quarter of the bag is husks and husk dust -
About a quarter of the bag is filled with husks and dust. I figured out when I thought the hens had food, but it was just a tray full of husks and they don't eat the husks so its a lot of wasted weight. I would not buy this again. I wouldnt say poor quality, but poorly processed.
