This movie’s cast is phenomenal as everyone from Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man to Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther come together as well as dozens more in between come together in a story of spectacular action and storytelling. Directed by the Russo Brothers from Captain America Winter Soldier and Civil War, the two men do Joss Whedon proud and deliver a great story. With a surprising ending to say the least. Truly the Empire Strikes Back of our generation. It's been said that heroes are only as good as their villain and James Brolin is an exceptional actor who brings to life Thanos with such realism that truly outdoes the cameos he made in the previous movies. Truly he gets to shine alongside such heroes because he delivers. Glad to own this on Blu-ray 4K but I got to say that either the Russo brothers didn’t take advantage of IMAX or it was decided against it with this movie. Such an epic and it deserved the IMAX feature on home video. Still, the features are fun, with behind the scenes footage and some neat deleted scenes. I think so, except for Odin and a few others who died earlier. That alone amazes me. Managing, from a writing perspective, so many major characters is astounding. Thor's a star. So is Iron Man. Dr. Strange too. And they do so splendidly. You probably know this. You aren't reading this review to convince you to see the movie. You either have seen it or are getting ready to see it online. Get on with it; it is a great movie. The story is fundamentally a quest for each hero and Thanos (the villain), as well as for the Avengers as a group. They all make errors of judgment which leads to the showdown with Thanos. They each fail to make the required sacrifice and bad things happen. It is more than just action. There's love, greed, power, family, war, and more. Oh, and a rabbit, sort of. Avengers: Infinity War is about Thanos' pursuit of the Infinity Stones. If he has all five, he has more power than anyone in the universe. That's a big deal for obvious reasons, but Thanos believes he is a good man. He thinks when he vanquishes half a planet's population, he is allowing it to survive. His own planet died through overpopulation. The movie, despite all the fantastic elements, is structured not unlike the classic tale of Hercules. In "The Twelve Labors of Heracles (or of Hercules)." One hard adventure follows the next, until the climax, and along the way, redemption. Rent. Buy. Or go to the movies. Just see it.
