Where to Find Tex Avery MGM Cartoons
If you are a collector of the great and wonderful classic cartoons as I am, then you may have come to this page as I did, in search of a complete collection of Tex Avery MGM cartoons on DVD and/or Blu-ray in the United States and Canada. As of the date of this posting, that collection doesn't exist (maybe on laser disc). However, I noticed that most Tex Avery cartoons are spread throughout many DVDs and Blu-rays from Warner Home Video in the "Special Features" sections of the discs. In fact, of the 67 Tex Avery-directed MGM titles from 1942 through 1957, only nine are not available at all. I've compiled a list of the titles and where to find them in case you are looking for a certain title:Blitz Wolf 1942 WB Home Entertainment Academy Awards Animation Collection, Disc 2The Early Bird Dood It! 1942 Girl CrazyDumb-Hounded 1943 Droopy: The Complete Theatrical Collection, Disc 1One Ham's Family 1943 Best Foot ForwardRed Hot Riding Hood 1943 Looney Tunes Platinum Collection Vol. 2 (Blu-ray only)What's Buzzin' Buzzard 1943Who Killed Who? 1943 Presenting Lily MarsBatty Baseball 1944 Stratton Story, TheBig Heel-Watha 1944Happy-Go-Nutty 1944 Dragon SeedScrewball Squirrel 1944 The Thin Man Goes HomeJerky Turkey 1945 Anchors Away (Blu-ray only)Swing Shift Cinderella 1945 Without LoveThe Screwy Truant 1945 The ClockThe Shooting of Dan McGoo 1945 Droopy: The Complete Theatrical Collection, Disc 1Wild and Woolfy 1945 Droopy: The Complete Theatrical Collection, Disc 1Henpecked Hoboes 1946 Till the Clouds Roll ByLonesome Lenny 1946 UndercurrentNorthwest Hounded Police 1946 Droopy: The Complete Theatrical Collection, Disc 1The Hick Chick 1946 Ziegfeld FolliesHound Hunters 1947 FiestaKing-Size Canary 1947 Command DecisionRed Hot Rangers 1947 TycoonSlap Happy Lion 1947 Song of the Thin ManUncle Tom's Cabaña 1947Half-Pint Pygmy 1948Little 'Tinker 1948 Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer, TheLucky Ducky 1948The Cat That Hated People 1948 Words and MusicWhat Price Fleadom 1948 Three Musketeers, TheBad Luck Blackie 1949 Kitty FoyleDoggone Tired 1949 On the Town (Blu-ray only)Little Rural Riding Hood 1949 BattlegroundOut-Foxed 1949 Droopy: The Complete Theatrical Collection, Disc 1Señor Droopy 1949 Droopy: The Complete Theatrical Collection, Disc 1The Counterfeit Cat 1949 East Side, West SideThe House of Tomorrow 1949 Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream HouseWags to Riches 1949 Droopy: The Complete Theatrical Collection, Disc 1Garden Gopher 1950 Two Weeks with LoveThe Chump Champ 1950 Droopy: The Complete Theatrical Collection, Disc 1The Cuckoo Clock 1950 Summer StockThe Peachy Cobbler 1950 Nancy Goes to RioVentriloquist Cat 1950 Three Little WordsCar of Tomorrow 1951 Royal WeddingCock-a-Doodle Dog 1951Daredevil Droopy 1951 Droopy: The Complete Theatrical Collection, Disc 1Droopy's Double Trouble 1951 Droopy: The Complete Theatrical Collection, Disc 1Droopy's Good Deed 1951 Droopy: The Complete Theatrical Collection, Disc 1Symphony in Slang 1951 American in Paris, AnMagical Maestro 1952 Belle of New York, TheOne Cab's Family 1952Rock-a-Bye Bear 1952 Looney Tunes Platinum Collection Vol. 2 (Blu-ray only)Little Johnny Jet 1953 Naked Spur, TheT.V. of Tomorrow 1953 Torch SongThe Three Little Pups 1953 Droopy: The Complete Theatrical Collection, Disc 2Billy Boy 1954 Executive SuiteDixieland Droopy 1954 Droopy: The Complete Theatrical Collection, Disc 2Drag-a-Long Droopy 1954 Droopy: The Complete Theatrical Collection, Disc 2Homesteader Droopy 1954 Droopy: The Complete Theatrical Collection, Disc 2Farm of Tomorrow 1954 Deep in My HeartFlea Circus, The 1954 Les GirlsCellbound 1955Deputy Droopy 1955 Droopy: The Complete Theatrical Collection, Disc 2Field and Scream 1955 Hit the DeckThe First Bad Man 1955 KismetMillionaire Droopy 1956 Droopy: The Complete Theatrical Collection, Disc 2Cat's Meow 1957Hope this helps until the real thing comes along! :)

French menus but still good.
This box set is a French release. It's MGM cartoons rather than Warner Bros/Looney tunes/Merrie melodies but still Chuck Jones produced & Tex Avery (and team) behind animation & voices. These cartoons are considered for a more mature audience than the Looney Tunes. Most are 1940-1950's. They feature in some cases characters who would later on become Sylvester the cat, Spike the dog & Tweety pie. Droopy features heavily in this collection & a lot of cartoons feature that Wolf & the sexy ladies for the guys in the audience. The downside of this collection is that the booklet & menus are French only & hence finding your favourite cartoon can be a chore, particularly if like me you find the discs numbers themselves don't correspond to the booklet. (All pressing mistake no doubt!) There are 2 documentaries on disc 5, one in English the other in French but with English subtitles as an option. The cartoons themselves can be viewed in French or English language which I find great as if you're well accustomed with your favourite cartoon then learning French is possible. (Although you might end up in a French market sounding like Droopy!)So yes buy these but be aware of the fact it's a French box set. Why this is not released in the usa or UK yet I'm perplexed knowing full well they'd sell lots & amuse millions.
