Best idea ever
These are amazing. When we started having to walk our dog we found that the disgusting garbage pail that ended up full of stinky little bags was a terrible idea. We live in Florida and there is just nothing you can do to not have a hot garbage can somewhere. I found these and we were able to flush the poop, which is really the best idea. That being said, these are not perfect, but I don't think any of them could be.These are some tips that I have to make your use of them as good as possible.1. Purchase the packs and not the rolls. The rolls are harder to use. They are cheaper, but it isn't worth it.2. Never ever forget them and leave them in your pocket and stick them in the washing machine. You will do it anyway, and it isn't the end of the world. However, they will melt onto your clothing and you will have to pick them off. I found that using a front loader, this happens much less and they usually just ball up and get thrown away.3. If the poo is bigger than the opening to the toilet, it isn't going to flush. It is going to clog. There are a few ways to handle this. Dump the poo out of the bag, then drop the bag and flush. Leave the bag open, make sure that the poo is down and drop the entire thing in. If you have missed this and end up with a big cloggy bag of poop, close the lid and walk away for a little bit. After the bag starts to dissolve you can easily flush.4. Don't knot them, it makes them harder to flush5. They get soft after awhile from the moisture if you are going on a long walk. I recommend taking a disposable bag with you if you will be carrying it for awhile. That way you can limit the chance of poop torpedo landing on the ground.

Great for the environment, easy to use
Some people seem to have trouble with this product. Ignore their issues and order with confidence. There are over 3200 products in the Pet Supplies category at Amazon. This product is #38, placing in nearly the top 1% of all pet supplies ordered on Amazon. That ought to tell you everything you need to know about the utility of Flush Puppies. They are an outstanding product. Additionally, flushing dog waste is the EPA's recommendation and preference for disposing of pet waste. Placing solid waste in your garbage pollutes our landfills.A few tips to address some of the issues found in the 1 and 2 star ratings. You cannot knot these bags or any other bag and expect them to flush. You've trapped air inside the bag and created a ballon. It wants to float, not sink. It's not surprising a problem is created. It doesn't matter if you think you've gotten all the air out; some will be trapped and the bag will float. What you want to do is flush the bag in such a way that the flushing action drives the air out of the bag, making it sink and easy to flush. To do this, simply make sure the bag is open at the top, at least a little. Flush the toilet FIRST to get the flush action moving. Then just drop the bag into the swirl and physics takes care of the rest. As you drop the bag into the whirlpool, the air is driven out and away it goes.On the issue of clogged pipes, let's just say the mass and consistency of these bags is far less than the typical solids flushed away (dogs OR humans). If typical solids aren't clogging your pipes, neither will these bags. This product wouldn't be anywhere near the top of best sellers in Pet Supplies at Amazon if clogged pipes was a widespread issue. Could the bags have contributed to a clog? Absolutely. And so would anything else flushed down the toilet at that residence. As far as septic systems are concerned, I hope the person describing a problem is having their septic system inspected every 2-3 years and pumped every 4-5 years depending on the household. Otherwise, its just a matter of time before a problem occurs, flush bags aside. Septic systems have two main components, the tank and the field (actually three including the distribution box. It is not material to this discussion). The tank holds everything flushed. In the tank, solids sink and bacteria break down most of what is flushed. Not all the solids are dissolved and what the bacteria can't handle stays at the bottom of the tank and accumulates there. Liquid effluent in the tank rises until it reaches a pipe leading to the field. The effluent flows into the field where bacteria and mother nature take over, completing the break down and purification of the effluent.Septic fields are ruined when the tank is not pumped and accumulated solids rise to the level of the field pipe. At that point, solids are carried into the field, requiring a very expensive solution (replacing the field). Septic systems work extremely well - as long as they are maintained. If you have a septic system, The Septic System Owner's Manual is an invaluable guide to maintaining the health of your septic system. Of note, damage to septic fields is completely preventable with the use of a filter on the tank's effluent pipe. If the septic tank has not been pumped the filter will [eventually] clog up and protect the field. You won't be able to flush your toilet; that's your signal to call the pumping company. Cleaning up a bathroom is far cheaper than replacing a septic field.

Mixed Feelings
I have mixed feelings about this product. On the plus side - the product arrived quickly once ordered. This product is biodegradable and will flush down the toilet. Its easy to store and carry around. With that said, while this product will flush, we have found it flushes under specific circumstances. First the contents of the bag needs to be fresh or relatively so. Frozen or dried contents have only managed to get stuck in the toilet. Frozen we quickly learned will flush if you let it sit in the toilet water for a little bit. Dried will do the same thing. Also to note, fresh does not matter if you happen to have a lot of it- it will plug up the toilet. The fix for this seems to be that if you think you have too much dump it from the bag into the toilet, drop the bag in and then flush. Ultimately, we will probably use this during the warmer months or immediately following a pick up. In the winter, its easier to bag and throw in the trash as frozen doodie does not smell up the trash can.
