Excellent, great value, loved it!!
Right out of the package I knew this was going to be a good one! It smelled sweet and mild with soft wood notes. It continued to impress as I opened it up; lots of nice looking leaves and an excellent color. It is pressed loose enough that I didnโt have to bring any tools out, my 5g of tea broke off easily by hand. The brew is a lovely dark amber, and the wood notes take center stage in taste, with a pleasant earthy aroma. It has a nice mouth feel, with a slight drying finish. This is an excellent tea (especially for the price!), with none of the leftover fermentation taste- itโs at a great age to buy and enjoy right away! It could very easily become a daily drinker! It would be a great introduction to ripe puer tea ๐It shipped well and quickly, foam wrapped in a bubble mailer and had no damage. It arrived in perfect condition.

Great tea but has Soil/fertilizer taste
This puerh is obviously of decent quality; yet my cake has an overwhelming taste of soil (not earthy-ness, but potting soil). I think it may be a quality control issue because underneath the soil/fertilizer taste is the sweet earthy flavor all the reviews describe and I would expect from a young black puerh. It must be contaminated because the soil taste comes off in the texture of the tea and hardly in the aroma. I drink puerh exclusively and have had odd quality issues with cakes (one time I found an iron nail in a cake I had purchased a dozen times before). I assume from the other reviews that this is an anomaly and I wish other buyers the best of luck. This was also not eligible for refund :(

Tea cake is hard to break off
It took several minutes to break off a piece from the cake. It is practically glued with "super glue". Other than that, you need to rinse the tea out in the first cup. The tea is very dark if the leaves are soaked too long. Even using the tea strainer, you need to pour hot water over the strainer and take it out right away. The taste is mild compared to other aged Pu-ers. It is good to drink with milk.

Excellent tea
We recently began drinking Chinese teas after discovering their health benefits, and just as important, how to brew them properly. This is our third PuErh tea, and it's great. If you've only had American-style black teas, prepare to be surprised. These are different, in the same way that single-origin Ethiopian Harar is different from store blend coffees, and Belgian ales are different from US lagers. Lots of character and body are here, and if brewing in Chinese Gong Fu style with more tea leaves per cup, you can do multiple brews from the same leaves, with the flavor of the brew evolving from strength through sweetness, with the old-leather notes slowly fading to the background. Good stuff!

It tastes very nice, a little sweet and looks Like red wine
This was my first time buying pu-erh tea. The tea is truly rock hard, I did not know this going in so be careful breaking off a piece. It tastes very nice, a little sweet and looks Like red wine. It comes in a nice cotton paper. For regular tea drinkers I would recommend it. Its different but some tea drinkers are looking for just that.this tea is the real deal. The cake itself is the size of a small frisbee. It's cheap for this kind of tea, 357g. but you chip away at it very slowly and you can reuse the leaves several times throughout the course of the day.

Book club approved
I bought this tea to use at a monthly book club meeting in which we were discussing Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane. Everyone enjoyed the taste as well as being able to enjoy something which had enjoyed a prominent place in the book. One member remarked she always put sugar in her tea, but enjoyed this without. Personally, I'm buying my second cake.
