A volt amp or VA is 1 amp at 1 volt so 1 amp at 24 volts would be 24 volt amps. So the common 40VA transformer = 40VA/ 24V = 1.67 Amps. And a 75 VA transformer = 75VA/24V = 3.125 amps. The transformer should draw less than 1 amp at 120V input and the output at 24 volts can provide as much as 3.125 amps if the load requires it. You can search for a volt amp calculator to verify my answers if you wish. **Q: Where is the ground? Also, which of the two black/Yelow wires go to the postive 24v and which to the negative** A: The transformer gets grounded by the mounting base and this is an AC output, so there is no polarity, **Q: Security panel on 2nd floor - display bad - characters randomly display. Current 40va transformer in basement. Would 75ma fix this problem?** A: Maybe, maybe not. Have you measured the supply voltage at your security panel with the problem? **Q: is this UL approved and if so can i get documentation that it is. I may buy alot of them?** A: It sure is.
