These work way more effectively than the standard paper cartridges; however, I will note, you may have to order more than one package to fill up your pump if it is a taller one. I plan on getting 3 or 4 more sets of them so I can swap them out more often and actually wash them each time instead of just back-washing them.One tidbit to make them even more effective, is to get yourself a small section of 1" or 1-1/2" PVC that will just fit in the pump when you put the lid back on, drill some holes all around the top of it, slip it down into the "mouth" of the pump, and fill these balls in around the PVC. Alternatively, you can do like I do and find a fairly tall plastic lid from a Kool-Aid container, drill it full of holes, and put it over a shorter length of PVC to keep the balls from getting sucked into the PVC pipe section. This will improve the surface area for filtering, and greatly increases the time between cleaning these. It also prevents the situation where more powerful pumps suck the mesh filter and part of a ball into the mouth of the pump and lower your flow rate considerably.I almost wish they sold a cartridge made out of these instead of the pleated paper.

The black disc is why I bought this. I had already bought filter balls but they were getting stuck. That black mesh piece is the trick. I used this for well over a month and it worked perfectly. I highly recommend, you will save so much money.

Purchased to additional filtering capability for my intex filtration system for my cold plunges - makes a difference in the water. So much so that I bought extra and gave it to my son for his plunge. Inexpensive, reusable, and well made - It significantly improves the filtration system.

Wish it came with a little net bag to hold them together for cleaning otherwise great product.

These work great! Rather than change/ rinse filters, I just bring these in and rinse them out in the sink. Kinda gross, but it works. It also seems to work better than the normal cartridges.

I use 4 in a skimmer sock in the center of a cartridge filter for an above ground Summer Waves pool. If I put anymore in, then it puts stress on the pump. 3-4 work fine. They wash easy in a mesh laundry bag, so you can reuse them.

I was tired of plugged paper filters every week. I ordered 2 of these so I could wash one and have the other in the pump. Took the dirty media out of the pump, toss them in the wash and they are ready to go again.

I was skeptical of this product but it turns out to be good.I have no problems with cleaning.Them out and the pool stays very clean.

These are a little counter intuitive to get used to, but oh my goodness are they fantastic.You can put them in a skimmer sock if you like, but you're inhibiting their function. I put mine in loose, with the black sponge stuck over the intake so they don't go whizzing through the pump. I start the pump, give them a little squish down so they're all near the bottom, and I'm done. I still use a skimmer sock on my skimmer so I don't have to clean the balls as often, but you do you.I used to rinse out my paper filter daily, and you do need to clean these every one to two days as well. I just put them in the sink with a little dish soap, wash them well, rinse them REALLY well, and they're good as new.One warning: don't put your chlorine pick in your skimmer basket, as it will cause these to literally dissolve. We lost the sponge that way (we replaced it with a silicone kitchen sink drain strainer thing). We were able to salvage ours because we checked it a few hours afterwards, but be aware.Filters algae better than the paper filters, too. I see these turning green before I ever see anything in the pool itself.Great filters, plus they're cheaper than paper filters. What's the downside?

I am very impressed with this product. I wish that I would have known about this product before hand. Filters are expensive and often times I would buy the wrong size. These are reusable. I wash them in the washing machine with a bit of bleach and soap. I’m thinking about buying another set so I can swap them out when cleaning so that the pump can keep running!! Very happy with this product!!!

Easy to spray off with a hose, will save lots compared to paper filters..

I don't often do reviews but this product has been great for me. I could never get all the cloudiness out of my pool with the cheap cartridge filters. Literally overnight the cotton tails took my pool from slightly cloudy to crystal clear.Once or twice a week I take the cotton ball out and rinse them with the jet setting on my hose and put them back in. I've had them for over a month now and I feel they'll probably last a few years.
