It does appear kind of flimsy but I guess like a home AC filter you don't want one that is so thick it impedes air flow. We'll see how long it lasts - I'm sure there are better but they cost more. There were no instructions in the box but I just used what was stamped on the filter - direction of air flow, follow the arrow, which for a Toyota Camry is top to bottom.
