Sprout Change Reversible and Reusable Diaper Shell, Lemon Ice

I bought these before my baby was born planning to use from birth and on. I know they say they'll fit at like 5 lbs, but at 7 lbs 2 oz, these couldn't fit my baby at birth. the amount of scrunched fabric was just silly looking and it simply wouldn't fit him. I want to love these but there are just too many little things that make them not fantastic. I can't seem to get them adjusted just right. They are either too loose and leak or they are too tight and give my poor baby raw red marks on his chunky thighs. The waist part just gaps open on half of the ones I have and at 4 months old, my baby is already on the 3rd loosest hole for the elastic (on most of them since each one is slightly different.) Another annoyance is that I bought 8 covers, and since they are all handmade, their is a lot of variation between the fit from cover to cover. Some of them have buttons of different sizes for the adjustable elastic. Some of them are rather small buttons, and I've had trouble with them coming undone in the wash resulting in me having to invent a tool to fish the elastic out of the channel they are sewn into to render the cover usable once more. I never had a #2 leak, even with some pretty intense BF poos, but they do leak urine maybe half the time, possibly because I can't get them fitted just right on my son. I don't hate them but I do wish I hadn't bought just these for my whole stash because I'm finding now that I need better options. The company seems to be a great small business, they employ several work at home moms and I had a great experience with customer service, but this product could be soooooo much better with just a little tweaking.

This is a double-sided water-proof cover that has a very trim fit (for a cloth diaper at least). I love the two colors. You can use any kind of insert or prefold with this cover and it does well with containing leaks. The Sprout Change inserts are super absorbent and work well but are on the pricier side for an insert. That is why I have used this shell/cover with other inserts. This cover/shell has adjustable settings for the leg and waist that are hidden in the seams that make it easy to adjust once and use every time until baby outgrows the setting. Once it is adjusted, the cover just snaps to the fit it needs to be for baby, which is convenient for hubby. He does not do well with the diaper covers that have multiple snaps settings to fit the size since he is always making it too big or snapping it on the wrong level. No need to worry about that with these diapers!

I have tried at least 30 different cloth diaper brands and all the different types - all in ones, all in twos, hybrids, pockets, fitteds, prefolds, covers, you name it. I just love cloth. But if I had to pick just ONE diper brand and type, it would be sprout change. Without question. The crotch is narrower than the big ones line Bumgenius so my little ones can move and walk freely without the wide stance you see with a lot of cloth diapers. I use these covers with bamboo cotton prefolds inside and I'm telling you, cloth diapering couldn't be any easier or cuter with this system. This combination is also VERY inexpensive. They are very trim and allow for the best range of movement and comfort of any I've seen. The higher leg opening ensures nothing cuts into your little one's thighs when they squat or bring up their legs. The lower rise ensures nothing cuts into their tummy. They are slightly harder to adjust the first time you use them. I figured out that using a diaper pin (or just a safety pin) attached to the end of the adjusting elastic to push it back into the diaper and grabbing it with your fingers though the opening in the front makes adjustments SO quick and easy. I love that you can't mess this diaper up. I set it up for my little one's size, and there is only once choice for snaps for anyone else putting this diaper on (dad, kids, sitter, daycare, etc). You will never have your little one returned to you with a poorly fastened diaper with this diaper. Once it's adjusted, you just can't mess it up! Also - and I can say this about VERY FEW diapers - it is the only diaper that I have NEVER had a leak with. Not during naps, not overnight (up to 13 hours), not during wiggly playtime. Never. My babies also never got red marks with these diapers. I think they are SO cute on - very flattering. They're not lumpy under clothes and they're not stiff (very soft). They also look like new after 18+ of use. They fit from tiny newborn stage (mine were 5 to 6 lbs at birth) through potty training. Also, with many adjustable elastic diapers like Fuzzibunz, Charlie Banana, and Softbums, I feel like you get what I call banana crotch at the smaller adjustments with all the extra fabric hanging down. But not with these! I love the bright colors that stay bright, the look of them, the feel of them, everything. I also have the wool version that is wonderful for night and naps too! I can't say anything about the inserts they sell because I love my bamboo prefolds inside because of their trimnness, softness, and ability to adjust to fill the shape of the diaper (fan in the back). I guess that's all I can say about them, but I really do love them and I've never written a review on any other diaper (just never felt this kind of love :D).

Best covers. Fit nice. Easy to put on. Look cute. Holds everything in!
