hard to use.
This vac is hard to maneuver around objects.with the h2o up to limit,it is HEAVY. Also where do you dump the waste? We have dogs and do not throw all the hair collected in the toilet. makes a mess elsewhere. The suction on this beast is great BUT our Shark pro is just as good with less cost and trouble..........................

Just like advertised
We are very pleased with out Hyla vacuum. It arrived when they said it would and in excellent condition. It had all the parts advertised and works like a new one.We recommend this to anyone looking for an economical Hyla vacuum.

Not even worth a $20 price tag at second hand store
This vacuum is a piece of garbage. Doesn't pick up debris on carpet and after shutting off machine, debris falls out of head. Then when I take my Dyson out to re-vacuum, it's appalling how much crap I pick up. It doesn't actually "vacuum". It just makes noise like it works. And in all honesty... Who even uses vacuums with a unit that drags behind? It's so arduous that the unit continues to pull up against my ankles and you can't maneuver like you can an upright. When I vacuum a room I go backward to make nice lines. Most of the time I'm kicking back to push the unit away from me. I wouldn't care so much if it worked well comparable to a Dyson or Hoover. But it sucks... Just not what you pay it to suck.

Short in the system or ghost operated
I’ve had my Hyla for a little over a year and it’s been a good air purifier which is mostly what I bought it for. I live in an old house that gets dusty easy so I like for it to run quite a bit but it likes to turn on by itself. I’m just wondering if this is supposed to be happening or are my ghosts trying to tell me something?

really effective vacuum
This vacuum is a really effective machine. Dirt and all else that gets vacuumed is easy to see in the water tank and it looks pretty disgusting due to the vacuums effectiveness. Much more power than our previous Kirby.

So much more than a vacuum cleaner, let me tell you!
This is an older model, the NST. This is probably about the right price for a machine that could be as much as eight years old and is well outside the five year warranty the original owner had. I've used the NST but much prefer my new GST over the older one.The GST is the latest model, so this is almost certainly well used at best. Both the NST and the much newer GST are great products, although the GST has marked improvement over it's predecessor. The NST is great, but louder and has the nozzle for the attachments located down in the basin, as opposed to up in the top, where the GST has it now. The new design is stronger and less likely to break over time. Case in point, I know several NST owners who have had to replace their basin under warranty, but none who have the new GST.The NST has a foam noise muffler located at the air return, while the GST has air intakes all around the top, which greatly reduces the overall sound it generates while in use.For those thinking this is just a vacuum cleaner, let me fill you in on the details: The Hyla NST/GST models are designed to be used without their attachments, and run up to four hours a day for up to 25 years as a straight air purification system. The attachments just allow you to deep clean carpet, furniture, drapes, etc, and get to dust, and the like trapped deep inside the cushions. My wife and I love our Hyla and run it at least three times a day, once when we get ready to leave for work, once right before bed (in our bedroom with the door closed to really purify the air in there) and then as we go to bed, located in a spare room. The proper way to use the Hyla is to add water to the basin until it is at or just above it's fill mark, then add glycol (used in children's hospitals to kill 99.91 percent of bacteria, etc) and whatever hypoallergenic scent you want and then run it for it's cycle. The NST I've used doesn't come with a timer, so you have to stay around to turn it off. The GST we have has a built in timer that runs a 35 minute cycle and then shuts off. Very handy. It cleans up to 1500 sq ft of air during that 35 minute cycle and if you add one of the scents to it, you can smell it in the opposite end of your house within minutes. We love the eucalyptus scent because it opens up your airways. This is great. The Hyla has reduced the amount of dusting we have to do to only about once a month and we clean our hardwood floors about every two weeks instead of every three days because there just isn't anywhere near as much dust in the air. LOVE it!The glycol is probably the coolest thing about the Hyla. You add a capful and run the Hyla, either just as an air purifier, or with the attachments. The gylocol kills the germs as the air is sucked into the basin and under water. It's actually kind of cool to watch and has that "water cooler effect" on little kids, they sit and stare at it when they first see it running. When I would vacuum using our Kirby, or any other vacuum cleaner for that matter, I would sneeze as the vacuum kicked up about as much dust as it picked up. You could literally get back and shine a flashlight and see the dust that is either coming out the back of the filter (without being trapped in the bag) or just hanging in the air. I HATE vacuuming. My Hyla, though! I can run the attachments on it and the air vents running around the sides suck in any dust that gets kicked up by the attachments running over the carpet or furniture, etc. I don't sneeze while running those attachments, and that makes my day.My wife loves how clean the air is. You can really tell the difference when you wake up in the mornings.I've read some of the other reviews where people describe this as being the best vacuum cleaner they have ever used. AHHHH! As the caption says, my Hyla is so much more! A vacuum is something you take out once a week and use and put up and then germs/mold/bacteria breed in the bag/tank and get spread through the filter when you drag it back out to use it (look it up, it is disgusting). My Hyla, on the other hand, runs it's air purification cycle in different rooms of the house (doors closed for deep air cleaning, open for normal) and we use the glycol to kill the germs. This is GREAT during cold and flu season, since glycol is proven to kill influenza, etc. Read up on it on the internet, it's really pretty cool what this little gem will do for your indoor allergies, pet dander, and the like.
