.com The SharkPort accessory allows you to transfer data from your PlayStation2 straight to your PC hard drive. As adventure game files start crowding out space on your memory cards, you can use the included file-management software to organize and back up your games--even to share game files, such as custom sports teams, completed levels, and special items, with friends over the Internet. And if you have the GameShark2, you can download codes directly onto your memory card, eliminating the need to input long strings of text. The SharkPort works with most PS2 games.

A Retro Gamer's Delight
I purchased the SharkPort so that I would be able to back up my PlayStation 2 memory card saves to my computer, and I am very pleased with it. I no longer have to worry about losing memory card files due to memory card corruption, accidental deletion, etc.The SharkPort worked perfectly with my PlayStation 2 and my computer. I had no problems installing the included software and drivers, and it was easy to back up the memory card saves to my computer. As my PS2 was already located near my computer, I did not have to move it to transfer the files. The instructions state that files can be transferred without having a TV available for the PlayStation 2, which seems to be true because the PlayStation 2 controller is never used in the process, although I like to have the PlayStation 2 connected to a TV so that I am able to see when the SharkPort is ready and when it has finished transferring files.I cannot comment as to which operating systems are supported other than to say that it worked in a virtual machine running a fresh installation of Windows XP Professional 32-bit with Service Pack 2 installed. The host machine was running Windows 7. I will say, however, that it is very important to read the instructions because the process of installing the drivers was somewhat different than I expected. As I do not have a GameShark, I cannot comment on the code-transferring process; however, it seems to be very easy as well.

Back up your PS2 memory card saves
Used this to back up/upload some of my memory card saves from my PS2 to my computer. Worked perfectly well. I didn't use cheat codes/hacked saves with the device so I don't know how well it would work with those but I imagine it would work fine as well.

Ok here goes...1st this is a really good purchase. You can move saves to and from your memory card to your computer for storage or for protection from accidental deletion or corruption. True the install disk for this is bogus so you need to download the 2.0 version to connection to Gamesharks website to download codes and/or saves. You can also type your codes manually using your computer into the actual game listing your have and put them into your memory card and upload them to the Gameshark. So it's useful to have and use. Here's the problem. The Sharkport 2 does NOT work with newer versions of the Playstation 2. I know. I have one of the first PS2's to come out here in the states and a newer one bought in March of 2003. Sharkport 2 isn't compatible with Gameshark 2 Version 3 and doesn't look like it will be for a long time since the company that made the Sharkport 2 got bought out and the new owners don't appear to be interested in releasing a newer version. So if you want to use this Sharkport 2 you have to have an older version of the PS2 and can't be using the newer versions of the Gameshark 2. If you are... well then you are hosed. Sorry.

Dont use the PC disk they give you!
After swearing for ½ and hour, I finally got this product to work.Couple things to mention.- The PC software disk that came in the box cannot be read by a PC DVD-Drive (or at least a laptop based DVD drive).- After managing to get the shipped software installed, found that I couldn?t import any saved games from gameshark's web site? Didn't understand that, until I found that the shipped software was out of date and all the files on the site were for the 2.0 vsn.Gah...So, just download the PC software and use the floppy disk as a coaster.- You cannot use your PC as a memory card replacement. You can only transfer from PS2 Card to computer (You have to have a SharkPort PS2 disk in the machine while using it).

Great for saving games
When i first ordered this item i wasnt sure if it was gonna work very good, but it is actually really easy to use and does exactly what i wanted it too. I got it to save games on my computer so i wouldnt have to buy a bunch of memory cards and it works great. I havent actually needed to use it yet, but i tested it out a few times with saves i already have on my memory card. It worked great with transfering saves back and forth from my computer to my memory card and memory card to PC. It also comes with saves for a bunch of other games too, if you want to cheat. And you can also download a bunch of saves from the internet as well. The only thing i didnt like about it is that the cable was too short. It is 6', but 6' is shorter than i thought it would be. You get 2 three foot USB cables, which means your PS2 has to be fairly close to your computer. But i'm just gonna buy a longer USB cable, so its all good.
