The Lawn Anchor Hammer spike is strong enough to drive like a nail into your rock hard soil, with a hammer. The design allows you to apply great force directly to the spike without damaging your sprinkler head. The 2 inch head allows a size-able target for the hammer's impact and also gives you plenty of room for your hand or foot if your soil is not rock hard. The design has been field tested by the inventor for over 15 years. The Offset Design transfers all vibration off to the side of the spike which gives unmatched stability to the sprinkler head "no flopping around". The "offset web" from the spike to the sprinkler gives a non-rotating aspect to the sprinkler when it is engaged in the ground which also adds to the stability of the unit. The finger hole in the web allows a place to apply upward leverage when you want to remove the spike, it also is a place that when storing the unit will turn upside down so the sprinkler head will drain "especially important for gear driven units". It has No Moving Parts no "ring and collar" to break, it Will Not Bend; the Flexural Strength is 40,000 psi. the spike has a Tensile Strength of 27,000 psi. The Lawn Anchor Offset Spike has a 3/8 inch solid core through the center of the spike and it is "Made in USA." The Pressure test was done with a 20 ton hydraulic press with a 2 X 6 yellow pine with no per-drilled hole. This sprinkler spike was just pushed through the board by force. The bolts were drilled through the board are to prevent the board from splitting, the spike is designed 'Not to Break'. The Lawn Anchor spike can use any ½ inch sprinkler head but comes with a "heavy duty commercial" Impact Sprinkler Head, that can stand up to how you want to use the unit, it is fully adjustable, works with high or low pressure and can adjust from 20 feet to 45 feet which gives a coverage area of 6,359 sq ft.

This thing is hefty, and works well!
First, the spike on this is heavy-duty and drives into the ground very well, holding the sprinkler steady with no issues. Beyond that, it a standard impact sprinkler and for me has worked flawlessly. It's easy to adjust the radius you want sprayed (although it really needs to be done while running to be accurate, so it can be a wet job) and there are adjustments to diffuse the spray or let it come out in a solid jet, and to angle some of the spray more in a downward trajectory, although that adjustment is limited and a bit balky. It puts out a reasonable amount of water if you have decent water pressure, but you'll never mistake it for one of those agricultural sprinkler heads that sprays out a 70-yard jet. I can get a good 45-55 feet out of it, and that's with a mid-hose shutoff valve which does restrict water flow somewhat.I've been able to drive the stake just by pushing or stepping on the flat platform provided, but it looks like it would stand up to a mallet or hammer if necessary, as long as you don't think it's Excalibur and try to drive it onto stone. I'll likely buy another.

Great spike
The spike to this is great. Rock solid. Actually, more solid than the rocks it pushes aside. Recommended just for the spike. The supplied sprinkler head is okay. It would probably work fine with city water. We use a water pump placed in an open irrigation canal so it's not always the cleanest. The opening from the supplied head is too small for this use, and gets clogged pretty quickly. I traded it out for a Rain Bird head (which DOES fit) that has a larger opening and better irrigation adjustments, so now I get better coverage, it doesn't clog, and I can put the spike wherever I need without worrying if it will break.

Next Level Sprinklers!!!
So a few things. It's a lot lighter than I thought, but by no means flimsy. It came with some easy to follow instructions, and looks pretty sleek. The instructions stated, "The head is easy on your hand when inserting the spike into the soil by hand, and easy to hit with a hammer. The cone under the head makes it very strong." This promise is not misrepresented, it was easy as that. Also, the finger hole is SUPER handy (no pun intended) to pull anchor from the ground if using in multiple locations. For the price it's really worth just buying more for bigger locations. The design makes it easy to connect multiple sprinklers together. I'm surprised they're not charging more, as the quality is exceptional. This sprinkler should be the one everyone considers. Very satisfied!

Great Sprinkler With Easy Adjustments
I bought two of these and I have rock hard clay soil and needed to drive these in with a hammer. My waffle head framing hammer left the waffle pattern on the plastic, but it didn't affect its performance. The male hose connection is a bit of a challenge to get a hose connected, but I got it connected and used these in series. I would recommend and I would buy again.

Perfect during this parching weather!
Very easy to get into the ground even if it is dried out and hard. Has a large step to stand on or bang with a rubber mallet without damaging the mechanism. I have it set on a 330 degree arc, not sure if it would go a complete 360. Has an additional outlet to add another hose to expand for additional sprinklers.

Doesn't hold well in soft ground
The base tends to move around in loose soil. Works fine in compact soil. The device itself is easy to adjust.Seems durable.I just got tired of having to readjust it.Is it a good purchase? Depends on your soil type.

It would have been so helpful to have the instruction with the product
We attached to the hose and it was trial and error since instructions are not included. I really love the way it sprays and I have taken pictures of diagrams on Amazon, so when I go to use it, as long as I have my phone, I should be able to hopefully get it to spray in half circle or less than full.

Versatile and durable!
Works great. Many setting options. More durable than expected. Strong spike. Good distance.
