I didn't do anything fancy, just a straight line on my eaves and I used plastic clips on my gutters. That's all I was looking for and these did it great. The light-show-type options are limited, all the lights basically change to the same color at the same time, but I like the fade option to different colors. For some areas, I used the sticky back for the lights. If it's somewhat damp out, the sticky back didn't work great for me- I used screws for some of them. Be aware, those screws are REALLY small and hard to work with a drill bit screwdriver. Also, the plastic holes are small, so if you use different screws they'll need to be pretty skinny as well. I WAS able to cut these lights to length and they are still working. I saw some conflicting information on that. I bought the 200' version and didn't need all of that. I cut the string after the last one I needed and the lights are still working perfectly. That was one of the main things that I was looking to get out of this product as I didn't want to go around on a ladder and measure everything exactly beforehand. I did a rough estimate with a tape measure from the ground, made sure I ordered longer than that estimate, then was able to cut them to length. Now they're exactly where I want them to be. Don’t waste your money on this ### ⭐ Aweful product, worse customer service *by D***D on 24 October 2024* This is my first ever review of a product, but I hope it prevents you from making the mistake on purchasing these. I received these lights yesterday and plugged them in to test them. They seem to work fine, so I went ahead and for the next 6hrs and hung 200ft of what I thought were going to be functional lights. The adhesive was spotty at best and the screws are so tiny i felt like I was trying to fix a pair of glasses on a ladder (super fun). After I finished hanging all the lights, I wired them in and checked my outlets with other lights I have hanging over my fire pit, but these fantastically awful string of lights never came on. I called Amazon and they didn’t offer a refund unless I took all the lights back down and retuned them to the appropriate location. Meanwhile I failed to mention I had to rent a second extension ladder to reach parts of my roof that extend above what my extension ladder was capable of. So I am now invested well over $200 for lights that weren’t worth the effort and I understand now why they were so much cheaper than others.
