More than enough for my Altifarm!
I purchased this to use in my Enverde Altifarm 3 tier. The information on the farm is that it needs 18 gallons of soil or soilless planting medium to fill the three bins. I did the math and this product seemed as though it would be enough with a little extra. When I received it, I used the string and zipped the chain stitching open to access my cellophane wrapped block of coir. It was larger than I expected it to be, but It didn't seem like 11# and I was a bit concerned that it wasn't going to be enough.Needless to say I placed it into a 66 qt. plastic tote and started to add water as instructed a Liter at a time. I lost track of how much I added, but bit by bit, it melted into a lovely textured soft and aerated mixture. I used my garden cultivator to break up the moistened part from the dehydrated part. The entire process took about 15-20 minutes. I had the bin full when I transferred the soil to my Altifarm and the coir wasn't finished rehydrating. After filling the farm to what I think they intended for capacity I still have 1/2 of the 66 qt. full of hydrated coir to use for other gardening or refresh my Altifarm. I'm very pleased with the quality of this product. It has a pleasant smell, there was uniformity of the shred and no large (fingernail sized) chunks. Everything is a fine particle with some of the longer fibers mixed in. I think they will help to support the roots so I don't mind them. I will choose this mixture for future soiless planting ventures. I have a few Aerogardens and I would use this in the grow bowl.

Very good stuff at a competitive price!
I have been regularly purchasing a different brand to use for my soil mix. I make my own compost and vermicompost but need some thing to improve drainage. I started with Peat Moss but if you read up its not a renewable resource and so I moved to Coco Coir. I like this for many reasons. 1. its renewable and something they remove daily from coconuts anyways. 2. its compacted really well so it takes up little space but makes a whole lot by adding water. 3. If you get this from a reliable company and they have properly washed the salt content out well it is a very neutral substance that works great for your soil mixes. I also use this for my worms and they like it also. For the price this is a very good buy.

Great Quality (WARNING for Carnivorous Plants)
I just used some to repot some Venus Flytraps because Coco Coir is a sustainable alternative to Peat Moss. WOW I love this stuff, it's such much more crumbly than peat moss which just feels like mush. MUCH nicer to work with. However, using a TDS meter the water coming out of the pot was around ~300 total dissolved solids measured, so this is NOT safe for carnivorous plants without washing as expected, even though the packaging mentions it's tripled washed. I held the pot under the hose for a good minute and got it down to ~120tds easily (same as my water), so if you have clean water I definitely recommend it.Overall the packaging (bag with HANDLES) and product exceeded my expectations, I barely used a tiny corner of the HUGE block to fill a medium sized pot, I'll never run out of this stuff it expands so much. Good purchase, but man now I don't know what to do with all of it. At least it stores well, just don't get it wet...!

Clean and compact
The coco coir definitely expands to hold water especially for cuttings and seedlings that need that moistureIt’s clean media I add perlite to it.

Great Quality and Consistency
This is just the right size of fiber throughout: neither dust that turns to sludge nor big hard chunks that haven't been broken up. No foreign materials or scraps of plastic, paper, or metal. No dried-up salt-water either. Just perfect coir.

too much filler
This product is packaged beautifully! But it seems like it had too much "filler".

Can be easily split if you don't need 2.5 feet at once
I use this as the base for my seed starting mix and it works great. Just add water and it quickly decompresses and fluffs up. If you hydrate the entire block with 5 gallons of water you get a wheelbarrow's worth of coco coir. I usually only need a portion of that amount so I split it lengthwise into 5 roughly equal sections. Then I can add 1 gallon of water and have a manageable portion. If you split it lengthwise the block delaminates easily if you try and go crosswise it is miserable.

Good for seed starting
I've been using this for seed starting mix this year, and have been very pleased with it. Just bought my fourth package. Plan a bit ahead because it takes a while to rehydrate; you can either separate it into big flakes with a large screwdriver, and rehydrate in small amount, or for the whole thing, the lowest effort involves putting it in a container (such as a large tubtrug) dumping about a gallon of water on it, then come back in an hour, knock off the rehydrated part, dump another gallon, etc.
