I wanted a set of the all whits strand to go up over my kitchen cabinets so they’ll come on while I’m gone and I don’t have to return to a dark house. That part works out exactly how I wanted it to. No where does it say they are permanently DIMMED and I guess I can live with that but I won’t order another strand Like I planned to. 🙁 Yes It has 8 modes to switch to BUT, if you hang the lights and hide the box out of sight? You have to retrieve the box and physically change the mode. Not very practical if you hang the lights high. I’m already annoyed by this and will be removing them from on top of my cabinets to a large windowsill where it will be easier to change modes and batteries. I wouldn’t have gotten this if I knew there was no remote. That said...they work, even dimmed they give off a lovely light. They offer little light, but they are great for setting an atmosphere. The different blinking patterns are cool to match with different occasions: alternate blinking for Christmas, rapid strobe for July 4th/New Year's, slow alternating for a regular day of the year. They also have a time effect that makes it easy to set to automatically turn on each night. They have withstood some intense rainstorms so far.
