Review: Orbit 57915 B-hyve 4-Zone Indoor Smart Irrigation Controller - There’s a part of me that resists giving this unit a 5 star review, but I honestly don’t know why. So far my B-hyve controller has performed flawlessly. I replaced an old unit that I had installed in my laundry room. So I already had 24v power and wiring (to solenoids) in place. I’m using all 4 Zones. I love being able to control the zones or change the programming remotely. Examples: 1) I switched from my summer to winter schedule while on travel - 2000 miles away. 2) I can put the system in rain delay mode whether I’m at home or not. 3) We have a hose bib that is controlled by this unit which I can now activate “manually” without running back to the control unit. Etc. Our unit has had no problem maintaining WiFi signal. I found the programming to be intuitive. Installation was straightforward. My only concern was the reports of inconsistent “smart watering” - where the unit can decide to skip watering if there is rain in the forecast. Being that our house is in Phoenix, we can’t afford any poor decisions to halt watering when our specific property doesn’t get the rain that was forecast. So I chose to defeat that feature (a programming option). But for those who are interested, you can change/program the threshold that the unit uses to self-activate a watering delay. Bottom line: I’m quite satisfied with the unit and I recommend it - assuming you have an indoor location for it (or an appropriate outdoor protection box).
Review: Fast and efficient! Forget the others! - This is an early review. I've only had it for one day, and so far so good! I replaced an older controller failed on me and worked well initially. The one I replaced was a rain machine. Eventually that failed and connectivity was abysmal. My next step was a rachio 3 controller. I tried two of them and I could not get them to connect to my wi-fi. I am using a deco mesh Network 6E. Moving on to this unit. There are definitely some improvements they can make, but the fact that I got it connected within 10 minutes, was great! I became so frustrated with the last attempt from the other brand that I was starting to give up and getting ready to go back to a manual controller. I only have two zones. I used to have about six zones but I found out that I didn't need them. So I consolidated them to two zones and I decided to get the four zone controller. Can activity was a breeze. I had to wait about 5 to 10 minutes for a firmware update. Please be patient and make sure you do not turn the power off while you are doing the firmware update. I haven't used any of the automated features yet. I just simply wanted to control these from my phone I achieve this within minutes. Some of the things that I wish this thing had. The screw down terminals would be better if they were just spring clips. This is not a deal breaker but if you are working in a tight space it could make things a little bit more difficult. Since I was working in a tight space, it didn't help but wasn't the end of the world. The build quality seems fair, but the cable management could also improve. Not really sure what the purpose of the ring clip at the bottom is for. The app seems really easy to use. Based on the reviews in the app store, I don't see it being an issue. If you're hesitating, get one

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Dose it come with power supply cord?**
A: It comes with a 24 volt AC power pack. One of those wall watt power supply. You run low voltage wires from that wall wart to the controller.  I was replacing old controller and used the already existing transformer as the 24 VAC is standard for these.

**Q: Can you turn off the weathersense feature?**
A: Yes, but it’s not intuitive. You have to do a deep dive into the preferences settings. As I recall, there is one of the four programs that is set to weathersense and you have to turn that one off or set it up To behave like a standard channel. It’s been awhile so I don’t remember the details but you can definitely turn it off.

**Q: My sprinkler system only have 2 zone, will this controller work with it?**
A: Yes! It can control any number of zones from 1 to 4.

**Q: Can I remotely turn on a valve manually from the smartphone app?  That is why I want to buy a wifi controller.**
A: Yes you can, you can manually control individual valves from the app.

There’s a part of me that resists giving this unit a 5 star review, but I honestly don’t know why. So far my B-hyve controller has performed flawlessly. I replaced an old unit that I had installed in my laundry room. So I already had 24v power and wiring (to solenoids) in place. I’m using all 4 Zones. I love being able to control the zones or change the programming remotely. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ GREAT Price. Works perfectly for our farm.

We own a 10 acre blueberry farm. I wanted to convert my sprinkler system to a smart system, that would use the weather map, current soil conditions as well as remote access via my phone. This was the perfect unit for our farm. It has probably paid for itself this week, as our weather has changed many times from Hot to hard rain. The unit put the farm on water hold for the last 3 days, which is exactly what I would have done manually. It is easy to program and run. One thing to mention is the unit is too far from our house to pick up any WIFI. I located an old cell phone that we no longer use. I purchased a SIM card for data only for $5 per month. The B Hyve picks up the wifi from the cell phone while on Wifi share mode. The only thing I wish the unit had is a battery backup system. I use solar panels to power the B Hyve, but sometimes we don't get enough light in the PNW to charge the backup battery system for this unit.
