Iaido Sword: Kamimoto-ha Techniques of Muso Shinden Ryu Paperback – January 1, 2003

This is a great book. There are so many details included in this book about Iaido. I love this book.

This book is very comprehensive and helpful, but don't think it can be relied upon totally. I must agree with L. Vassallo, in that the teaching of a sensei is indispensible. This book is best suited for students who need to have a reference to look at so they can keep up with the training they recieve at intervals in the dojo. I do believe it is possible to learn a great deal from this book in conjunction with a good video guide on MSR, but I won't recommend trying it unless you have no possibility of joining a dojo. Some of us might live in a region where Iaijutsu is not practiced anywhere nearby. If that is the case, I won't discourage anyone from doing what they can. However, mastery in this case would be an unrealistic goal.

Es excelente la información que tiene este libro, la parte histórica es muy buena y recomiendo tenerlo, no le doy las 5 estrellas por el gran detalle que se confunde el nombre de Seichuto por Koranto lo cual creo puede ser un error de diagramación e impresión, el resto de la información es impecable y muy enriquecedora. Claro el Iaido Seitei ha tenido actualizaciones desde el momento en que fue editado el libro y como dicen muchos comentarios: no pretender aprender iaido solo con este libro, es una herramienta de aprendizaje muy valiosa. Dato curioso es libro llego a costar $5000 dólares aquí no se como jajaja. Excelente libro.

Iaido Sword : Kamimoto-Ha Techniques of Muso Shinden Ryu is in itself a work of art. In less than 250 pages it covers all aspects of Iaido ; historical, philosophical, the etiquette, description and care of the sword and clothing, the different stances and cuts, warm-up exercises, a glossary, references. The 12 katas of the Zen Nihon Kendo Renmei Iai (SeiTei Iai) and the 4 series of the Muso Shinden Ryu are precisely described in the text and abundantly illustrated with clear photos and graphics as are all the corresponding bunkais. Even if you are a practitionner of another style of Iaido this is a must. A precious learning and teaching tool. The best all around manual on Iaido yet.

This book is assigned reading for a class I am taking. The cheapest I found it was here on Amazon. The techniques in the book are unique to one school, so other books will have different info, but the pictures and step by step instruction are great. The history section of the book is very enlightening. I'd recommend this book for any serious student of Iaido.

I study iaido and this book is great because what we learn in class is the same as what is in the book described in intricate detail. I really love using this book anytime I need to practice and can't remember a part of something, it's very detailed/descriptive. Lots of great information in here. I have the Kindle version, which is nice since I can search it very easily to find exactly what I'm looking for. Definitely recommend this to iaido practitioners.

Actually, this book wasn't what i expected, you'll get bored from all that reading. Also, iaido is not a straightforward art, i don't see that emphasized. Every situation has a different bunkai, it's really a mental building system. And that's why i like books like e.g. Aikido: Harmony of Nature by Saotome Sensei. Also i'm quit sure there are some mistakes in that book regarding the naming of some kata's.

Great book. I have a few other Iaido books, but this one is the best of the bunch. I really enjoy that the kata images have another person as the opponent you are imagining in the kata. It has a great section on the history of the art and good content on the technique. Also, make sure that Muso Shinden is the style you are actually studying in your dojo.

Book in decent condition and delivery was super fast.

Für alle Iaidofans ein Must Have. Man findet in diesem Buch sehr detaillierte Ausführungen der Katas, Geschichte und das drumherum. Die zahlreichen Fotos runden das Buch gelungen ab.

I've just started iaido and this is an excellent book for me. Each week I check on something from the dojo session, find a clear explanation and usually discover something new along the way that suddenly makes sense. It also covers all the background stuff that matters and looks as though it would be a good reference book for experienced practitioners too. Recommended to me by my sensei (who has his own copy).

A book can only go so far - nothing takes the place of a good sensei. However, if you are going to get a book, this is the one. Whatever is missing are things you can easily find elsewhere, or get from your sensei. That's what they're there for. This book is fabulous - thorough, detailed, and easy to understand. I also like that the authors are respectful of junto.

Very good book well presented and the kata's are in detail.
