You've got to try this! Worth the read!
I started out using a typical soldering iron type tool. Took FOREVER to burn anything, it caught every groove in the wood, often times it wouldn't burn the natural hard pattern in the wood I was working with causing my work to look unevenly burned. I did some extensive research (I'm talkin MONTHS of it. I don't like to waste my money on things. Especially when I'm gonna spend $100.) I found this product. I instantly fell in love with this machine! 1) the description is absolutely true! I've came across products that had the same style of description, but the reviews were awful! The videos were awful! 2) I love the responsive staff who work with this product. I emailed this company, and got a quick response. Awesome. 3) when I opened up this box, it was nicely packed with some helpful instructions, so if you're a beginner-they got you! 4) the use of the product is INCREDIBLE! It heats up and cools down in no time, and I mean it. No sooner when you turn it off and unscrew the little screws your product is cooled down. Using my old pen, I had to push HARD to get a decent burn. Not with this pen! Holy cow, I'm telling you... this is AMAZING. I tried out all the tips. Each one brings a new level to how you burn and how your creativity pops. The pic posted was just a quick "I've gotta try this NOW" piece... although quick, it came out like I spent hours working on that beautiful saturated dark burn. I've got some bad habits to break, like pushing on my pen. I cant wait until I get used to this product. This is well worth your money!I do have some tips to end this 5 star review.1- get a nice pair of gloves, cause this baby gets HOT!2- dont jack it up all the way, you will set your wood on fire. Even with the hardest wood, you don't need it up all the way. Nice to have just in case tho3- dont wait like I did. Try this product!

FINALLY a wood burning tool that works!
I do a lot of wood burning as part of wood folk art I make. I sketch a design, dremel it, and then woodburn the dremeled outlines to provide contrast and clear borders for painting/staining. Over the past couple years I have bought two different pyrography / wood burning tools, and really did my research to try to get something that would be a good cost/quality combination. Both times, despite great reviews I was sorely disappointed. They'd basically damaged their tips within a few minutes. I would spend HOURS, going SUPER slow (like a millimeter or two a second), trying not to use too much pressure only to have to stop many, times to let the tool cool off and try to retighten, or change, the tips. Ultimately I'd find the tips would eventually get stuck in the tool, or the place where they screwed into the tool would get damaged, and then the nib wouldn't not stay in at all.Recently working on a much larger project (a back panel for our kitchen island, so roughly 4 foot by 3 foot, I got sick of it. I broke down and decided to buy of the more expensive (but still reasonably priced) wood burning kits that has the wire nibs and variable temperature control. I was not disappointed. What took me HOURS of excruciatingly frustrating and boring work on the first half of the project took maybe an hour, probably more like 30 minutes, and I didn't have to stop or change a tip ONCE. It was made me fall in love with wood burning all over again. No more will I dread that step in my projects!

Great Burner, But Read the Instructions & Practice First!
Don’t pull it out of the box and immediately start burning until you PRACTICE with it. The item works as advertised. Having used a cheap-o $20 Warner burner for years, I finally got tired of the constant blisters from pressing down so hard! I upgraded to the Tekchic and wow...I’m kicking myself in the butt for not upgrading sooner. However, there is a huge learning curve with the Tekchic since it has more features and heat settings. You have to experiment with each tip and learn how to use it. The tips are a lot different than the screw in burners, so get a big piece of scrap basswood and start practicing with each tip. I varied the heat settings and learned what each tip did and how much pressure I need for each design and style. So glad I did so I didn’t waste a piece of wood.It is SO much easier on your hands to use this burner. No pressing down which causes blisters and fatigue. Hotter, adjustable temp, means no waiting and quicker burning strokes. TWO burners is the best part! While I am changing tips, the other one is cooling off and I can get back to work.Well worth the price and investment.

Wonky Dial
Everything srill works great, over a year into using it. Only downside/annoyance is the temperature dial isn't consistent and the temps do not line up with where the sticker dial says.

Great Machine!
Super easy to use & heats up / cools down quickly. The pen does get warm, so when doing large projects let it cool down from time to time (don’t want to get a burn). The only thing I don’t like is that there isn’t a list of what all the tips are used for; would make things easier for a first timer. All in all I’ll be using this frequently!- photo of my husbands hand built cold smoker and the sign I made for it

Love how fast it heats up and cools off, and that's just the start!
After beginning wood burning with a Walnut Hollow, which I like too, I wanted the flexibility that this Tekchic gives me. I have many more choices of wire tips to choose from and I love that!! The unit gives me the option of switching burners, but haven't found it necessary right now because the tips heat up and cool down so quickly! Easy to control temperature and find I don't have to turn it up very high to get the results I am looking for. As you can see from the pictures, I tried a larger piece practicing tree bark, keep in mind, I have only been wood burning a few months thanks to my lessons at YouTube University, lol! I then tried smaller projects like the ornaments pictured. Because you can hold the burners like a pencil it sure makes it easier when doing little projects like the ornaments. Have only been working with this burner a short time, but looking forward to many more rewarding experiences, will keep you posted!
