Great Gadget! 6 Years old, work perfect AND REMOTE SURVIVES THE WASHING MACHINE!!!!!
3RD UPDATE, OCTOBER 2016Not that I recommend you do it, but if by mistake you throw the remote into the washing machine together with the sheets and comes out and looks dead, don't despair:get some silica gel sachets (I put about five 1 gram packets) into a ziplock bag, leave it overnight, and your little gadget will be working fine.If it works on an iPhone, by golly should it work with this!______________________________________________________2d UPDATE, OCT 2011: Problems reported below are gone. From 10 ft distance and working great! GREAT gadget. I kept the complaint so that people can see that if that occurs with them, it is likely only temporary, though causes remain unknown.______________________________________________________So, this is the only remote I have found that actually includes a button on the outlet that allows you to turn it on or off.For my set-up this is ideal. I have no overhead light in my bedroom, so I want to turn the light on when I enter the room (one standing lamp is by the door), but I also don;t want to have to get up to turn it off when I go to bed. This way I can turn it on as I enter via the outlet, and off with the remote when in bed. That is the idea at least. The complaints about a 4 feet range at best are true, which means I have to lean over the edge of the bed to get it to work. I am sending it back via warranty, as I am going to try another unit and see if this is a quality control issue.Worked fine at the beginning, have had it now 4 months (reviews are useless if you cannot rank them by length of ownership, since problems are unlikely to occur when you first get it)Keep posted, as I will certainly update my posting a few months down the line.UPDATE 8 MONTHS LATER: Range problems have disappeared, though I cannot tell you why. Though I use them in a small room, they respond immediately. I am very happy with the purchase after all, and I updated the stars.

Those things are HUGE!!!
This 3-pack is exactly what I was looking for. I have 3 lamps around the room that are plugged into the wall outlets. Now I can turn them all or any combination of them on without having to walk around the room and navigate around the furniture. There are 3 issues that cost this thing 2 stars:1. Remote comes without a battery and its one of those special batteries that regular folks are unlikely to have around the house. So I had to do to the store to get the battery.2. Plug-in units are BIG. They are as big as entire wall outlet together with the wall-plate. And they are thick too. And they have red LED lights on them. So, unless your outlets are well hidden and out of sight - they will look UGLY on your walls.3. Remote does not seem to reliable switch the lights on or off. Sometimes it requires more than one click and sometimes it almost seems that you need to be in direct line of site from the wall switch for it to work. So, its not perfect, but for now I am reasonably satisfied with this product. Would not buy a second one of those though.UPDATE: I have just downgraded this product to 2 stars. Apparently, the shape and size of those remote controlled units is such, that you cannot use the second outlet - the unit blocks most of the wall outlet, so the second socket becomes unusable. Also, for the reliable operation you will need to be within 5 feet from the plug you are controlling and have a direct line of sight from the remote to the switch. Any furniture seems to block or interfere with the signal. I'd say this piece of junk is not worth the money.

good product
This remote control power switch works good, I used Energizer A23 battery as recommended, and it worked perfectly, I can easily control my power switches in upstairs, one press is on and another press is off, easy to use and control. Two things I should mention , the size of the switch is too big, so it will occupy your whole outlet on wall. Secondary, the battery cover of remote is very tight, it is difficult to open it with you fingers. In general, it looks like built in low quality nut works perfectly.

When good, very good. When bad, $#%^&*
Just installed my second set of these switches in an adjacent room, and they do not interfere with each other. For over two months the first set has worked quite well. Do order an A23 battery from Amazon when you place your order. Or you can get a two pack in the Wal-Mart Automotive Dept for $3.47, but not in the camera department. This switch set gives me 3 different remote-controlled light settings in my Home Theatre: medium light for TV, very low lighting for projector, and decorative rope lights. Each can be turned on and off independently of each other. Works great even for non-line of sight, but sometimes you do have to push the button twice. The overhead light in my office does not work, so I attached the remote of the second set to the light switch plate with Velcro. Again I have 3 lights in my office that can easily be turned on or off from the previous light switch location.BUT the battery cover on the remote was broken for the second set I bought. Since I attached it to a wall switch plate with Velcro, it didn't matter. But it would be a big pain to have to return them and get another set.Just know you are taking a bit of a chance. I got two good sets and am EXTREMELY happy. But it seems you can get a bad set and have to return them. Good luck ! ! !
