ELANS PLANNER
I struggled because I rarely bother to write a review if the product deserves less than 4 stars. However, It seems that the most advanced country on the planet could manage to produce such a simple item at a reasonable cost. This one was disappointing in several respects; and I will show why. Since there are few companies producing pocket calendars and I'm familiar with Mead, I'm going to compare this Elans pocket planner with the Mead pocket planner. [Disclaimer -- I have no relationship with the Mead company other than having bought their calendars for many years.]1-SIZE OF CALENDAR SQUARESThe Elans planner dimensions are 1/4 inch larger than the Mead. The Elans measures 6-1/2 inches length x 4 width; the Mead is only 6-1/8 length x 3-1/8 width. Because of the larger size, I thought the Elans would have larger squares to write in but no -- compared with the Mead, Elans has smaller squares. The Elans, like the Mead, has space along the right side for "notes". As other reviewers have mentioned, this is space that would better be devoted to larger squares, since several extra pages are also added for "notes" as well, probably more than needed. Both planners have extra pages for address book and computer passwords and for me this is unneeded.2-BINDINGComparing the binding of the Elans with the Mead, the Elans is bound with glue and like a book, and must be forced to open wide. This makes it harder to write in the squares and over time as the glue becomes old, depending on its quality, opening this type of binding fully may cause pages to come loose. The Mead is bound with staples, such that it easily opens wide and also over time the binding does not wear out.3-PLASTIC COVERThe Elans has a plain cardboard cover. Right out of the box today, one corner is already showing separation of layers. The Mead planners come with clear plastic covers which protect the cardboard calendar cover.4-ATTRACTIVENESS OF COVER DESIGNIn past years I would have rated the Mead highly for cover design but this year I give the Elans the vote for attractive cover choices.5-ATTRACTIVENESS OF CALENDAR PAGESBoth have holidays listed in the calendar squares but the Mead printing is lighter and thus you can still write over it; the Elans printing of the holidays is darker so that cuts off more space in the calendar squares. Others have said the Mead calendar pages are printed too light but for me they look more attractive.6-PRICE POINTThe Elans are currently priced at $5.59 while Mead pocket planners are $3.49 at my local Wal-Mart store.Bottom line -- You may get a more attractive cover design with the Elans but less in the way of functionality and value depending on your needs.

Not functional for my needs
This calendar is not going to work for me. I wish you would have let us see a sample page.

Not worth even the cheapest price.
This is a very user UNFRIENDLY calendar. The pages are side by side making the squares VERY small to write in, especially due to the notes column. The binding is stiff I forced it open to write in a page and a page has already fallen out. The flimsy cardboard covering will last 1 week in my purse. I do like the note pages and addresses. However- WHO in their right mind would write down every password and account they owe and carry it around with them to be stolen or lost.? It is not worth my time and effort to return it. It went in the trash.

Don't meet my expectations
Grids were smaller than what I like and it does not lay flat like the one I got for $2 at Target. I also didn't like how they print holidays. Font is too big and I can hardly put anything else on that day. Cover is just cardboard and I am afraid this won't last for 2 years.

The calendar runs from the beginning of the year and 2 years forward.
It didn't have a plastic sleeve which most calendars do. It is cardboard. Otherwise it's decent.
