I believe that the correct leads and clips are "Amprobe TL35B Test Leads". They cost $19.95 with free prime shipping on Amazon. Sorry, I know you only asked for the clips.

Will this locate large gas pipes and record the depth?

Metallic pipes, yes. Plastic pipes if they have metallic lead wire burried right over the pipe. It does check the depth, but does not have memory to record it.
