Set it and fo-get it for Excel, databases, etc.
This is a great "keyboard' for macros and key combinations that end up wrecking your hands and wrists.Since it can be used driverless and just appears to Mac and Windows as a keyboard, you can easily use it in those locked-down corporate drone computers that don't allow driver installations. Just keep in mind that you'll need a Windows computer in the beginning to program your macros. If you only have Macs, you'll probably need to borrow a friend's computer (or dual boot to Windows; a VM might work) to program it the first time. I'm guessing they could release Mac programming software if the demand warranted it.The keys are ultra-light in spring weight, and supposedly use Cherry Reds (if I remember correctly) mechanical keys. The one downside is that it's surprisingly tall, and around 50% taller than a typical keyboard. Not a deal killer, but a thinner device would reduce the wrist height. A mouse wrist pad easily solves this.I imagine this would be killer for games, as well, since you can program in massively long combinations with millisecond delays and the like. It's nice that it's a standalone keypad as it allows you to keep utilizing your keyboard of choice.

WORKS GREAT ON MAC, LINUX, AND WINDOWS
First off, don't believe the bad reviews. For one, it very clearly states it is mac and linux compatible, but can only be programmed on a windows machine. Secondly, the 37pg user manual isn't needed, the 3pg quick guide covers everything needed to get you running no problems. The 37pg guide has a bunch of info about warranty info, troubleshooting, and all the other standard stuff that isn't actually useful for getting started.I bought this keypad to automate some of my more repetitive tasks at work, but my work computer is locked so I cannot install software on it. I bought this model explicitly because I could pre-program it at home and use it at work. This actually didn't go the way I thought, it was even better. The software used to program is so simple and small I installed it on a flash drive on my home computer and I can run it off my work computer without having it installed there. I can program it at home or at work. Fantastic! They should advertise their software can be run off a USB drive! The keypad does sit up a bit high, but having large hands myself, this is kind of a benefit. The keys press definitively and easily, and the included keypuller does a very good job of enabling you to switch between the keys and bumper bars.I only wish you would do more than the 111 keys in each macro, but it's certainly not necessary. Saw online before I bought this, that it was being used by 911 operators. If such a demanding field can use these and rely on them everyday, then this explains why I have had zero problems with mine, and why you too should feel wholly confident in this product as well.

Macro Keypad - Awesome
I write in an XML-based content management system, and there are MANY repetitive steps that usually require a painful number of left and right mouse clicks over the course of a day (when I say "painful", I mean _physical_ pain). In about an hour, I programmed the 14 most aggravating multi-step mouse and keyboard operations into single macro keys. I printed out the key labels from the Word template and cut them out with scissors. Naming, printing, cutting and installing the labels took almost as much time as the programming, but I wanted the labels to look good.Bravo Genovation! The build quality is excellent and I applaud the use of Cherry MX mechanical keys. The only thing I would want different is a removable USB cable from the keypad. If you change that ONE thing, I would award 5 stars without question.

These are AWESOME!
These are AWESOME, give them 10 stars if I could. Easy to program, solid as a rock, great feel, well built. Used it on FSX flight simulator project and it works just super. Each key can have two functions so you really get 47 functions if needed, but one key becomes the "shift" or "toggle". Still, absolutely GREAT device.I wish Amazon had the 35 key version - the more programmable keys the better (yes, can get from other vendor, but Amazon is my "go to" place.)

Great Product
This was an excellent product at a reasonable price. I downloaded the manual and software programmed the keys (24+24) before it arrived, but I had to redesign the keycap labels as they were a little bigger than I anticipated. All went well. I had a problem with Win-S key combination which was solved by selecting the correct mode for that key.I am very happy with it as it saves a lot of finger stretching for combination keys. Things like copy, paste, inserting the date, switching between programs, copying URLs, running macros and taking screenshots can each be done by a single key.Now I want one with (80+80) keys at a reasonable price. Does that mean I am too lazy or too efficient?Of course the IDEAL device would be a combination of an (80+80) Genovation programmable keyboard with a Wacom Bamboo (touch & pen) in the middle of it!Enjoy the product.

Genovation 683-U
I have this keypad on my home desktop computer which runs Linux. It was bought to use as a dedicated keyboard for my Skype account, but I just keep finding uses for it. It does everything the company claims without any issues whatsoever. You do have to use Windows to program it, but I have no problem programming it with a 98Lite modified version of Windows ME which runs inside VirtualBox.

Great for playing MMOs too!
Great product. I use when playing Everquest 2 MMO and it works great. For long time I was looking reliable and simply to use keyboard extension that could give me option to execute more skills etc. (I almost did run out of the keys on the keyboard). This one does perfect job, although I do not think it was intended for gaming. Each key is fully programmable, including the macros. You can execute modifier (i.e. ctrl) and the key combinations it is responsive and due to simple, ambidextrous layout can be used with left or right hand.
