1599 Geneva Bible Hardcover – Enhanced, August 24, 2015

I own a lot of Bible versions, always seeking the most accurate. 15 years ago concluded with the KJV, which was comissioned in 1604/ finalized in 1611.... UNTIL I found out that the GENEVA version was the original- most accurate translation directly translated from the original Hebrew & Greek scrolls to English in 1560 & revised in 1599 to addcomentaries, explanations and other things very important and omitted in the KJV. WHY? The Geneva, widely used, used a common English for the common person. The me and you. King James wanted a fancier language "worthy" of the royals and the courts. Additionally, "altering" some verses to make the Bible gravitate towards his political commission. To rule the people. Having said that, I seek to learn the truth and also researched the printing houses, as they also edit the Bibles as years and trends and politically correct occurs so I concluded after research that this Printing House TOLLE LEGE PRESS is one of the most reputable Christian publishing companies that specializes in producing high-quality editions of classic Christian work in search of maintaining the integrity of the texts. I still have my KJV. But since I started reading this GENEVA Bible, 1599 edition, is like the whole TRUTH has been revealing to me in a way that no other Bible including the KJV, could. It is much simple to understand, it makes sense, the message is straight like it or not. Ultimately I seek to know GOD as He wishes us to know HIM and have a PERSONAL relationship with HIM. I have not been able to put this Bible down. I never craved to read the word nor my KJV. It calls you. It gets into you. It opens you. If you purchase from the Press House direct, you will find soft covers for like $49. But I chose this Hard Cover because I know it is the best investment I could ever make for myself. So hard cover will protect the content of Life better. I got the "Patriot's edition", I thought it was a nice touch with George Washington kneeling in the snow to pray and His Prayerfor The United States of America and his Circular to the States from 1783, The CONSTITUTION of the United States, the Amendments to it and the Magna Carta are included. This is so valuable. There are commentaries from theo-scholars to help you as well as a dictionary from words that are not in use any longer, with meaning and the location of such word within the Bible. I have to say I have not found the need to use it as it is really plain, simple, normal English. I actually used a dictionary more with the KJV. I enjoyed my KJV because it got me to start my path, but this Geneva version actually has made me grow in the spirit faster in 3 months than 15 yrs with KJV. You will not regret it. And to me, the Salvation of my soul is worth more than $150. To have the Truth and the right guidance to a better place and life, is worth more than what I paid for. You can't knock on someone's door and expect to be let in, specially if htey are VIP and you are not - If you do not know them. But if you know the owner of the house, the VIP because you built a relationship with Him, as he sees you as a son or daughter, you are let in. Relationships can't be built without spending time together. Long distance does not work here. And since your Eternal Soul and place to be at is on the table, my 1599 Geneva version by Tolle Lege Press has taken a spot in my dinning table. As I feed my body when I stuff myself, i will feed my spirit. And remember: we were all born with an expiration date set. And we have an appointment on that day to meet the one who made us. Plus, I am not made for extreme heat. I rather eat at the table that is been prepared for us. GET IT NOW, start with Gospels, so you start knowing the love of the father for you rather than his anger at our disobedience. As he is Loving, He can be wrath. I rather be on the love-receiving end. - btw, I am the last to judge. I was terrible. I just was forgiven as so will you. If you ask. I am a new person. I ordered the Hardcover Edition of the 1599 Geneva Bible. ISBN- 9754846-9-9. I am very pleased with the size and the Bible. The print is rather small but it is dark enough for me so that with my 0.3.5 glasses I read it comfortably. Do not overlook The contents page. I found that I learned so much History of the Bible that I was ignorant of , or had just not realized the value of knowing what the early Christian writers and readers went through so that we could have our precious Bible today. That should lead us to seek a closer relationship with our Lord and Savior through His word. How did I miss that? ignorance. Reading the articles from the Table of Contents Page in The Geneva Bible were of value to me. While reading this Geneva Bible I came upon a word in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 that comforted me. In the Greek it is "apostasia" In the KJV Bible it is translated"falling away", but in the Geneva Bible it is translated as "the departure". It is interesting that in the early translations of the Bible into English beginning with Tyndale and all the way up through the 1500's almost every translation, including the Tyndale and the Geneva Bible and several others, all translated " apostasia" as "the departure".

Loaded with history and excellent notes! Should be next to all KJV or newer versions as a resource

I was immediately disappointed that the font size used for both text and footnotes were so small. Readability/ease of use would've been helped just by that modification (don'tknow why they scrimped on it). Commendable translation/editing of the real thing, but unsure iftranslation/editing indeed tranfers the messaging of the original work.

This is a must have edition for any Christian household. It has so many extras I did not realize. Relevant information EVERY AMERICAN should know. I want one for myself now!

A great easy to read Bible, which shows us the way that God, our creator wants us to go during our walk through our lives.Readers will see that the Bible has no creeds or long and difficult to understand prayers, but God offered his Son, Jesus Christ as a covering for our sins, and through God's power of the Holy Sprit, he proved to us all, by raising Jesus His son from the dead after 3 days in the tomb, as testified by many great writers that were given the power of inspiration (God Breathed) to tell us here nearly 2000 years later. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, (NOT God the Son) has promised to return to save the World and establish a Kingdom built to the Glory of God, Not, as we have now, a world for the glory of man.

I first heard of this Bible on the Sonlight Broadcasting show "Frances and Friends." They were criticizing it for its "Calvinist" leaning (which gives a notion of "once saved, always saved"). Their comments whetted my intrigue. This is a study Bible with many footnotes. I have a "Patriot's Editon" (there are some other editions) and, personally, I haven't seen anything "Calvinist" about it. It concludes with a paper on morning and evening prayer, a glossary (with words as "Almuggim" and "approbation"), the Magna Charta, the Mayflower Compact, the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, the Constitution, and Rules of Civility and Decent Behavior.
