Magical Delights Colouring Book : Published in Czech as Carovne Lahodnosti Hardcover (Czech) Hardcover – 2016

 This is a lovely coloring book by artist Klara Markova. When I used a translator to find out what the title meant in English, it came back as “Charming Deliciousness”. That is a very apropos title as the designs are quite charming and fun to color. It has a great hard cover and a lay-flat style binding. Along with the book, I received a cute matching bookmark which I can color as well.The designs are detailed and, in some cases, have intricate and small areas to color. While it is not a grayscale coloring book, there is a prominent use of shading in many of the designs. The designs include flowers, fruit, imaginative machines and houses, fairies, and forest type creatures.While most of the designs are printed on one side of the page (with the same cute sketch printed on the back of each page), there is one design which spans across two pages. The artist made sure to have the backside of each of these pages contain the standard sketch, so using a bleed through medium will not ruin another design. The items which cross over the binding are minimal and, in my copy, the pages line up excellently.This is what I found while coloring in this book and testing my coloring medium on the paper:48 design pages of original hand-drawn artwork (includes title page and extra page of cut out elements)Printed on one side of the page with a small, repeated design on the back of the pagePaper is heavy weight, ivory, smooth, and non-perforatedSewn, lay-flat binding with a hard coverSome designs do merge into the bindingAlcohol-based markers bleed through the page. If you use this medium, I suggest using a blotter page to keep ink from seeping through. I use card stock but a couple of pages of paper should work as well.Water-based markers, India ink pens and gel pens do not bleed through the page. Some do leave light, colorful shadows on the back of the page.Colored pencils worked well with this paper. I tested both oil and wax based pencils. While the paper is smooth to the touch, it still had enough tooth to get good pigment. I could layer the same color for deeper color, layer multiple colors and blend using a blending stick.

I am absolutely overjoyed that Klara Markova's Magical Delights Colouring Book became available to order here on Amazon. After watching several colorists on YouTube color Ms. Markova's whimsical artwork I could not wait to order it. At the time it was only available on Amazon in the UK and from Ms. Markova's Etsy shop, but with the price of shipping, it was cost inhibitive. To my absolute "Delight" it was one of the items in my recommendations on Amazon and I did not hesitate to order it.The hardbound book is beautifully done with excellent quality, ivory colored paper. The images are one-sided allowing you to use a range of both wet and dry media if you use a blotting sheet between pages.Magical Delights comes with a lovely bookmark for you to color. The title of the book is perfect for the whimsical images inside. I am hoping Ms. Markova is planning a second book.

I love, love, love this book. The pictures are gorgeous and the pages are 1 sided. I used my prismacolor pencils and it was like a knife through butter. So soft and smooth.

I'll give this book four stars because I love the paper I think it's a beautiful book - I just don't use it ... it's not that attractive to me – that's the only reason why I took a star off I don't really like the drawings

OH MY GOSH!!!! This Adult Coloring Book, may have cost a lot, but! I am so excited to start coloring each page!!!! I was actually counting the days to when it would get to me, so I can start coloring each and every page of them. These little elves oh, I guess that's what she calls them? Are so adorable, on each page is just sofreckin adorable! what can I say I've said everything else I just want to start coloring and I will order more of her books!!!!! And if I cannot afford them guaranteed I will get them sooner or later! I highly recommend her adult coloring books. You'll love them💟

Love this coloring book and would give more stars if possible. It's hard cover - quality paper - single sided so any bleed through doesn't ruin the next drawing. Most of all, the drawings are amazing! Not overly complicated where you have too much clutter. It is challenging enough yet really fun!After about 30 diverse coloring books this one is by far my favorite. It is a little pricey but well worth it. Enjoy!
