Mad Science Super Growing Crystals Kit

No crystals here. The box says "crystal" and there is a picture of real crystals. Inside are little blobs that absorb water and grow into star/crystaline (a generous use of the word) shapes. My 3,5,7 year olds liked them enough, so if the box said "growing polymer shapes" and I didn't have to explain to my kids that these are NOT REALLY crystals, I'd give a couple stars.

This was quite the disappointment. As the other reviewers have said it is not a crystal kit but a water absorbing polymer. Even if it had been sold as that there isn't much learning here. Look, it's a polymer that absorbs a lot of water. Basically square orbeez.

I bought this at Micheals craft store (and paid way more that it is on amazon!) I expected to be "growing some crystals" with my son, but in NO WAY are these "crystals"! It is a water gel polymer that "grows" in water and sort of "deform"...and THATS IT!!! they are still jelly-like! I wish I would have went with the Smithsonian crystal garden instead!!! What a waste of money this was!

I purchased this at Michaels for much more money. I should have bought some jello instead. All it did was turn into jello cubes. My daughter was soooo disappointed. I am bringing it back. To call it crystals is a misnomer. There is nothing crystal about it. Don't waste your money. I'm going to buy her a real kit. This time I'll do my research.
