Love being able to set my own temperature for each speed setting! Great for any artist who wants to dab in 3D printing!
Tipeye 3D Drawing Pen is easy to use, so it could be good for older children. Yet, this pen is really designed to accomplish many quality projects. You are able to use PLA or ABS and control the temperatures. There is a low, medium and high for both filaments. Although, there are default temps for each speed level you can change the degrees while still in your chosen speed. Different brand filaments melt and flow at different temperatures. That's why I like the versatility of this pen. I find many PLA filament brands flow best at 190-195. If I don't want to extrude the melted filament quickly I can still keep on "Medium" or "Low" and adjust the temperature for that setting. There is an automatic feed to help hand fatigue. This way you do not need to hold the feed button down. When you have completed using the pen they give you a plastic pen holder, but it's very light-weight which causes the whole thing to tip over when pen is placed inside. This is not a rechargeable pen. You have a power cord that plugs in to your wall outlet. I do wish the cord was longer. There is only one color filament that comes with the pen. I'm under the assumption the filament color you receive will vary. The filament that came with my pen was a translucent light green color. It is very pretty and flowed well at 185C.The PLA filament can be used directly on paper. If you choose the ABS filament, it will work on the paper, but being a higher melting point, it sticks too well which can lead to paper on the back of your print. If you are tracing a picture on paper I recommend placing glass on top, so you can still see the image and don't risk ruining your print with paper stuck to the back. If your ABS filament isn't sticking well to the glass, spray the glass with hairspray, let dry and then draw again. You can also use an Elmer's glue stick to help the ABS sticking to the glass.Overall, I've used both filaments at many temperatures and speeds without issue. The longest I've used the pen continually was 3 hours. After an hour the pen will become very warm. It has never been too hot to touch within the 3 hours I used continually. I recommend for a 3D printing enthusiast who wants a versatile pen!

Let your imagination flow
If you own a 3D printer or have children 8 and up you should definitely own a 3D pen. This TIPEYE 3D pen is is a great value for what it does and it's ease of use.The pen is very light weight and is easy to hold even for children with small hands. The OLED is very bright and sharp, buttons are easy to use and temp control is excellent. The body stays cool even during long periods of use. What an incredibly useful item. For 3D printing this is a MUST HAVE accessory to fix imperfections on prints, fix supports that fail during a print and welding different printed parts together. This pen is going to save so much time and unneeded effort. For children this is the ultimate piece of chalk!!! What you draw you can play with after, how cool is that?****Parents this thing WILL stave off summer boredom.Great way to get the kids off the phone/tablet and to use THEIR imagination while learning about design and so much more.Working with children one made a small bird cage and halo for a 3D printed cat with a small 3D printed bird for the cage.Another wrote her name and drew a horse to hang on the wall.It took less then 2 minutes to explain the functions, how to operate and set up the pen.On the first print all children understood how to make this pen do what they want, it's that simple.TIP 1: I suggest to use this on a mirror or glass pane for 4 reasons.1. You can first draw out and edit what you want to make with a marker, much easier to trace with the 3D pen then free hand for most people.Much more accurate that way if you need specific measurements in the print or want a better quality finished print. It's easy to clean the marker off with rubbing alcohol and cloth or paper towel.2. The filament cools quicker so layering and additions can be made quicker.3. You can tape down parts of the drawing that might lift if it is a long stretch or a piece that has force from intricate movements.4. The prints come up easily when complete with about zero chance of breaking or being deformed or left with material stuck to it.TIP 2:If you want to make a 3D object like a cube, first draw out all the pieces separately in 2D then attach them together in 3D with the pen.Example: First make the bottom square of the cube, then make 4 L shaped or squared pieces, then attach together with pen and print a layer around the top with the pen to seal together.I've attached pictures of a few thing that were done with this 3D pen. Thanks for selling this iCoolSmart, I'm so happy with this pen, my only gripe is that I didn't have one when I was a child.***Update 6/15/17Had this pen for almost a month now, and WOW so much fun and so useful for repairing broken things. Tried some of the Tipeye sample filaments, boy do they work and look great. For $50 what better gift could you give a than a Tipeye 3D pen and a pack of their sample filament.
