Great for newbies
I am a self-taught crocheter. It all began when we perused the books at Sam's club and my son pointed to the crochet kit they had. My then 9 year old son wanted to learn to make the animals on the cover of that kit. So we purchased the kit and brought it home, only to realize the patterns were filled with terms and acronyms we didn't understand. That's where my crochet journey started. Not wanting to disappoint my little guy I decided to look up YouTube videos and learned how to crochet along with the YouTubers. After doing that and making an owl, I was able to understand and decipher most of the crochet terminology. We decided to get our kids (we have two more under two) a play kitchen for Christmas 2018. When looking for crochet play food videos on the internet or on YouTube and then following those instructions, I ended up with mismatched food in various sizes. So I scoured the internet for actual books and chose this one as well as "Whimsical stitches".I love this one since when I changed my yarn to "medium" and used a hook size in 3, 4 or somewhere in between, I got the perfect size of play food for the play kitchen. The instructions I felt in this book were very clear and very newbie-friendly. She even illustrates at the start of the book what sizes of crochet items will result from using different hook sizes and yarn sizes. I really appreciated that bit of information which in my humble opinion is a universal piece of information when it comes to the crochet world.I have made the bananas, watermelon and tomato from this book so far and my children play with them frequently. My spouse and I feel they look realistic enough. Would recommend this book!

The most adorable and silly collection to crochet!
I borrowed this from the library first, and was immediately squealing with delight over all the cute pastries, veggies, fruits, etc, and bought my own copy right away. Really, really super cute collection with clear directions. Wai Yee uses #2 weight yarn, but I've used worsted weight with an F hook to make items a little bigger and use as cat toys. So far I've made the cup of coffee and a carrot. No problems with patterns. The only gripe I have is that this book is very hard to keep open! Usually I cope well with regular binding (vs spiral, which of course is much easier to deal with but more expensive to produce), but this book is really floppy and is giving me a hassle. I'll have to use bulldog clips or something to pin it how I want it.Adorable and definitely worth buying!!

Cute items worth the price of the book
The patterns are accurate, and the finished product looks--for the most part--like the images. I would NEVER try to make the ice box itself, which appears to be a cute concept better pulled off with plastic canvas, but everything else looks really cute. My one complaint is that I wish there was a better tutorial on embroidering the words and details, which you have to dummy your way through (even when you've done it lots before) and better directions would have shaved off hours of working and reworking. But all in all, a cute book with adorable food items that you're not going to find free patterns on.

Loved
I love the patterns here. So much fun to make. Definitely simple enough for a beginner to tackle. Each of the patterns I've tried work up in no time at all. Items are smaller than I anticipated but that was my fault, just make sure to note the listed sizes.

So cute!
The book is awesome and well written. My only qualm is I had to get three different books before I got one that wasn't all damaged on the cover.

Fun crochet for the playful
Great patterns to make for the grandkids' visits or just to have some high fiber foods around. The patterns are easy to follow and produce greeat results. However, I did use plastic canvas instead of the cardboard or foam board called for in the book; this makes the ice box washable in cool water. I also sewed all items instead of using adhesive tape.

Dessert Keepsakes
This book provides the crocheter to indulge their passion for all things sweet. What could be more delicious than to preserve that cupcake, donut, cookie or piece of cakein crochet and keep forever along side a cup of coffee. The sweets section was my personal favorite. The book offers the opportunity for making and giving as gifts;food, drink and condiment items especially for children and adults who are childrenat heart.

Lovely book
I'm impressed with this book, it's really well put together and fun to read. Some patterns I think may be out of my skill level but I'm going to give it a go anyways. Its surprising how many patterns are in this book too.The only negative thing is my book came a little damaged, but the package it was shipped in was just a bubble wrap paper bag and it was torn as well, luckily it didnt get wet.
