If you are looking for a well detailed book about trails in the white mountains (NH) then look no more. This book breaks the state up by regions. Offers great information on the trails and has maps. I never go hiking without it.It rates the hikes difficulty, (easy, moderate, difficult ext.) estimated time it will take, length and elevation, parking cost and if the trail is pet friendly. Each trail is given a basic map and an excellent trail description. They describe inclines, vegetation and give you a little history on some of the trails/ area.

this book is great. I borrowed it from the library and found it so resourceful I wanted a copy for myself so I could refer to it anytime I want. I use it to look-up hikes to do with my mom that are at a beginner level since she just started hiking and also more rigorous or challenging and longer for me and my bf. This book breaks everything down from level, length of time, distance, includes map and so much more. It really helped me get familiar with areas I didn't even know had beautiful places to explore. Very pleased with this purchase, price was great too, shipping fast and packaged safely.

Very helpful guide. Less overwhelming and more approachable than the full AMC White Mountain Guide (which I also own and love). This book is a good place to start, especially for beginner hikers, folks new to the Whites, or those looking for suggestions for hikes with children. The articles on various flora, fauna, and natural phenomena encountered in the Whites also makes for an interesting read.

This book guided us for 4 days of hiking. The maps and directions really helped with the basics, but it needs more detail in descriptions where waterfalls aren't marked once you get there or when questioning if you have to cross the creek to continue on the trail.

Excellent information for the trails provided. I would have liked some of the alternate routes to be highlighted. Overall, it's a great starter book for someone looking to start exploring the Whites.

The book came to promptly and in good condition, as described. The book is organized, easy to use and has great hikes for all abilities. There is even a glossary of local vegetation in the back which is fun for some of the nature hikes in the book. I would recommend this book to a fellow hiker.

Nicely layed out...easy to follow...informative...but it would have been nice if they would have been more expansive on the Presedential Traverse and dedicated a chapter on that trip.Overall a quality book that I would highly recommend.

We purchased this book for a recent book to select the best day hikes. We were so thankful for it to both know the elevation climb and what to expect. I was so thankful for the book as it was very detailed even as where to park for the trail head.
