Tried many recipes already. Brilliant book and delicious recipes.
Perfect book with explanations for all types of food. I'm on a diabetic, no salt diet. Nearly bought out the market for all the things I can now eat. Was not trying to lose weight at all but have lost over five pounds with no stress. A food bible for sure.Own other same type books. They cannot compare to this one at all.

The only Greek Cookbook you neee
I eat at Chef Maria’s restaurant. Every chance I get when I am in New York City. In fact, I ate there last night! This book is my go to book for the Mediterranean diet, the Greek life, and incredible recipes.

Nothing unexpected, but decent advice.
There's no real bad advice in this book. It touts eating a more Mediterranean diet, i.e. olive oil, wine, vegetables, Greek yogurt, herbs, nuts, lean protein, while warning you to stay away from processed foods; nothing new really. Unless your diet consisted of junk to begin with, I doubt you'd loose much weight due to the high caloric value of a lot of these foods. That's not to say this diet is unhealthy; eating natural foods is definitely better nutritionally, and these foods have lots of healthy fats and vitamins. I replaced much of my daily food intake with these ingredients and didn't lose a pound, but I feel good knowing that I am eating healthier. One thing that ruins the credibility of the author for me though is her writing style. First of all, the book reads like an advertisement for Greek yogurt. Every time it is mentioned she precedes it with, "luscious', or "filling" or "creamy". It becomes almost ridiculous. There's a section of the book where she describes how she and her sisters had food fights with yogurt and afterwards would rub it into their skin...you're expecting the pool guy to show up and funky music to start at any moment. I get that she's making the point that food should be sensual and enjoyed, but dang, she takes it to laughable lengths.

Wonderfully written: Greek traditional healthy habits & kitchen knowledge.
Such an interesting read!This knowledge will increase my choice of good food. Maria Loi gives us all the traditional secrets. Love the photos & wish there were more. She gives "the insider's story." BRAVO Maria.Eager to brew & drink the loose Greek Ironwort Tea Flowers from Mount Pelion, which I immediately brought from Amazon. I appreciate organic herbal teas with so many benefits. I will be sharing my tea & knowledge with my friends. We enjoy personal growth.

I am often forgetful with regard to writing reviews, but I'm so delighted by the result of this purchase that I made it a point to review. I hate cooking. I mean I really hate cooking! These are easy recipes! I don't mind them so much and have actually enjoyed making this stuff. Also, I admit to having rolled my eyes at the weight loss claim, but one week in I lost 6 pounds. The Greek Fritata is amazing. I could eat that every day!

Wonderful Cookbook!!
A cookbook that’s worth reading from cover to cover! Informative, interesting, healthy! Maria Loi makes you want to start drinking olive oil out of a glass. A great book to have in your library!

Looking for a great way to get healthier while treating your tastebuds to something really good? Look no further than "The Greek Diet" by Maria Loi. The recipes are so delicious and fresh that we've done a number of dinner parties based on them, and so far have gifted a number of foodie friends with copies of the book. This is all you need to learn to eat like a long-lived Greek!

Fantastic cookbook that works
Fantastic cook book. Tried because I was feeling sluggish. Lots of nutritional and background info. Lovely recipes although some ingredients a little tricky to find and can take some forward planning. Within a week I'd lost a few lbs because my sugar craving had gone and i felt great. Would highly recommend. Would love a follow up book

I was a little disappointed with the diet and found that it did not really agree with me. Certainly there was no loss of weight, but I think probably I did not give it long enough. Some of the menus are tasty, worth a try if it suits you
