Beautiful, versatile and simple to use!
When I ordered this little sunrise light alarm a couple of weeks ago, there were 2 short and fairly uninformative reviews. I didn't have much to go on, but I could tell that the seller was very engaged with folks who were asking questions about the product. Even so, $40 is a lot of money to risk if there isn't a lot of customer feedback about a product. (Okay, maybe it's not a lot for some folks, but I am a miser, what can I say?!)That said, one afternoon in Bed, Bath and Beyond, I saw one of those "happy" lights by Verilux and decided to do some research about it since I don't get into the sun often. (I work from home!!) Thanks to the related items that come up on Amazon, I was led to a "sunrise" light alarm. Very cool, I thought, since I have darkeningcurtains that block a lot of light, so the natural sunlight cannot wake me up in the morning. The sunrise alarm for Philips was pretty interesting, but for the money, the reviews certainly weren't stellar in my opinion. However, it does have more sounds, an FM radio and a fading night light if that is important to you for a massive increase in price. Why am I telling you about another sunrise light alarm? Because there ARE options - but why pay more if this particular sunrise light alarm gets it done?!Here is what I like about this little sunrise light alarm:- Its sleek design' it fits nicely on my desk while I am working. As you can see, I like the blue hue while working (or writing reviews when I feel like a product deserves it).- The power cable (and it comes with this light alarm!) + battery option- Light "therapy"; with a 2-second touch, I can turn on the colors and with another touch, the light will stay on with any color hue that I choose!- Alarm surprisingly easy to set, and turn on and off- The "sunrise" function is actually pretty neat and does brighten a fairly dark room- Low orange light for clock that doesn't disturb my sensitive eyes- Small instruction booklet that does provide enough detail as to how to use this light alarmHere is what I don't like:- The sounds available are not extremely appealing to me; I like 1 or 2 of them, but no matter- No volume to adjust how loud the sounds areWhen the sunrise light alarm arrived, I wanted to test it and I was setting the alarm 5-6 minutes out. I couldn't figure out why only the birds would come on and not the sunrise part of it. I remembered that the booklet mentioned that if you set the alarm less than a half hour out, the sunrise portion wouldn't work. Duh. I am guessing this is because about 1/2 hour prior to the alarm (birds singing) goes off, the light begins to turn on, gradually increasing. So, setting the alarm for less than this amount of time wouldn't allow for this function. Makes sense.I am very sensitive to light at night, so unfortunately I cannot use this light as a night light and have it on all night. It would be very cool if this light had a timer on it so that you could set the light to a dark orange (like a sunset) and have it begin to darken and turn off, say a half hour later. That said, I was worried about the clock brightness because if I arise in the middle of the night, I know I would see the clock. When you set the alarm (practically at the touch of a button), the clock light brightens up a bit. After a short time, the clock dims. I have astigmatism in both eyes, so I can't read the clock anyway, but fortunately it isn't bright at all!I really do like this sunrise light alarm and it seemed to be the best choice when sifting through all the options. When I was testing it, I didn't think the light going to be similar to a sunrise, but close enough. However, I would love it if it started out with a more peach color and then graduated to a soft blue-white. When I test it, I get a gradually-increasing soft white. But when it comes on in the morning, it DOES appear to have a peachy hue. (Perhaps it just depends on where I set it?!) Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me!The first morning it went off, I was like, who opened the darn curtains?! Even my dog lifted up her head. The cat started crying to get in to find out what was going on. She probably wanted to find the birds, too.One thing I will note is that how well this works for you may depend on where you put the light. I feel that the sounds are too loud for me and since there is no volume, I don't want the birds screaming in my ear. So, I chose to put the light alarm about 10-12 feet away. I felt this may be risky because my back may be to the light and I wouldn't see it. As a matter of fact, I did fall back asleep the first morning it went off even though it brightens up a very dark room (I have light-blocking curtains). If you have a tendency to do this, then you may want to position it somewhere that indirectly hits your face (without blinding you, of course). The light does get pretty bright as it moves through its stages, so even 10 feet away it brightens up the room quite nicely even if I am facing the other direction when waking up.Overall, this sunrise light alarm is very simple, but definitely fits the bill of wanting to be awakened by some light when natural sunlight isn't an option. At any rate, I hope this review helps someone make a purchase decision.Cheers!

Not reliable (and after I posted this the company offered me $50 to change my review to 5 stars)
While I really liked everything else about this alarm clock (the light, the sound, the look--though it looks a little cheap it's better than others I found) it wasn't reliable, so I had to return it. If an alarm clock won't go off every morning when needed, all the other features don't matter ... I'm sad to send this back since I did really like everything else about it.Update: A month after I posted this review, the company emailed me to offer me $50 to change my review to a 5-star review. I didn't realize attempts to bring up ratings on Amazon had gotten so bold for some companies--yikes!

The sound volume is deafening and can not be adjusted
Love this little alarm/night light.... BUT, the sound volume can not be adjusted (deafening as it gets louder even 8-12 feet away) and there is not an option to NOT choose to have a sound and only have the light to wake you. Also, the sound that you select is maybe on a 1-2 second loop max. It is not pleasant bird chirping, but a repeat of a single bird chirp louder each time. I probably still would have purchased it, as the sunrise wake up is nice and it's affordable, but the sound issues are a major detractor.

😎 AWESOME 😎
Best....Device....Ever!!! The clock face is a very pale orange that if you face away from you can’t be seen. It has no glow which I LOVE as I need it pitch black at night.30 minutes before you wish to wake up it starts very gently illuminating then progressively gets brighter over the next 30 minutes. At 30 minutes it becomes the brightest and the sound you selected begins. It’s EXTREMELY easy to set and took no time to plug in and use. Took less than 5 minutes I’d guess.I tend to wake up within 10 minutes of the soft light starting to glow so I set accordingly if I don’t want to wake up early. On the plus side I wake up much more naturally than I do with my phone alarm and once awake I’m not dragging trying to wake up. Generally I feel refreshed. If I didn’t go to bed early enough, this still wakes me up so that I’m fully awake not hazy even if I’m a bit tired.I looked and tried many devices including the Phillips Alarm Clock ⏰ but this one was the best for me. I love it and highly recommend it!No, sigh, I wasn’t given this to review. I bought it outright and love my purchase! However, I’m more than willing to receive any freebies 🤪 to test if someone wants a honest review. (How does that happen anyway?!?!? I’d like to get in on that 😂!!)

Cool alarm clock
I got bored waking up to the traditional alarms and I was looking for a sunrise simulation alarm. Surprisingly this alarm has 5 alarm sounds to select from and I like bird chirping sound, thunders with rain and sea waves sounds. This alarm clock has 3 levels of lighting and is adjustable by a simple tap on the top of the device. The sunrise simulation along with the cool sounds wakes me up in a good mood and the rest of the day continues. This clock has a 1800 mah battery, charger cable along with the adaptor is provided. Setting time and alarm and operating the clock is very easy, we can choose between 12 hour and 24 hour time format. Instructions are easy to follow.Wish the time is displayed more brightly, it is not clearly visible when lights are on in the room, but it is perfect when I turn off the lights. I don't need to look at my phone for time in dark now. I am planning to buy one more for my guest room.
