Amdro Gopher and Mole Killer, 6 Gassers, 0.75 oz

This product works, but it is not a one shot cure, consider it a maintenance item. I have no clue how to find the “main run” so what I do when I see activity is use one If these. The first time, I used a whole pack of 6 (I ordered three packs.) Each day I inspect the entire yard looking for new activity and smash down the area I previously nuked. I have not yet seen activity in an area I previously gassed and new activity has dramatically reduced since I started using these. I’m no expert but I suspect the new activity is from moles from my neighbors yards coming in as a result of decreased competition and rich feeding grounds because all the new activity has been close to the property lines/edges. I also noticed that I’ve stopped seeing surface runs, and just holes/mounds where they have come up from the depths. Not sure if they have gone deeper as a result of my attacks or if this is a specific/different variety of enemy, my yard appreciates it regardless. Stay vigilant and treat this as ongoing maintenance like cutting the grass etc and you will notice results. I didn’t want this war, but if it’s war they want, it’s war they will get!

There's no instructions for this so FYI, the side that you light, is the side that produces the smoke. Make sure you widen the hole with a sharp stick or something, test and make sure this thing goes completely inside the hole. It spews out Sulphur gas which will make you nauseous, so light it, shove it in, pile some dirt on top of it, and stamp it down so no smoke escapes. Make sure you've got some loose dirt to bury it. These are expensive so don't waste one on an old hole. Make sure it's a new hole with a fresh turned mound on top. Make sure you poke around good until you find the true hole and can widen it.

These are a perfect way to kill moles; however, simply following the directions on the package won't get you the results you need. I usually place one in a hole, and accelerate the poison with a leaf blower, aiming the blower right into the hole with the lit gasser. Without the blower, the gas won't fill the entire network of tunnels created by the little buggers, and will likely not reach the moles if they're not active. Even if it does, the slow movement of the smoke gives them time to block the tunnels off. Even with a blower, expect to make multiple attempts, as the gas doesn't always kill the moles on the first go. Once you've rid yourself of the moles, you'll need to take steps to keep more from moving back in. A product that kills worms and grubs should be used in your yard, as that is their primary food source and what attracts them. I've given this 4 stars, as you can't simply follow the directions and expect good results.

So we lived in this house for one year. No gophers. Lucky us. Then one day... gopher digging mounds in the yard. Cats investigated. One morning I walked out to find one of the cats feasting on a smallish furry rodent. I thought that was the end of the problem. (Narrator, in Morgan Freeman voice: But it wasn't the end of the problem.) More mounds appears. Then - quel horror - my husband discovered that his jasmine plant, one of six we planted last year, was dying. Fresh gopher mounds at its curled-up toes. Cue Bugs Bunny: "You know... this means war." We ordered these Gopher Gassers. Husband puts first one in latest gopher diggings, right by the now-expired jasmine. Next morning: Gopher Gasser has been pushed out of gopher hole and is lying on ground. Husband WILDLY indignant. Gets another, tucks into gopher hole. Next morning: Gopher Gasser pushed halfway out of gopher hole. Husband takes this as victory. Feels this was gopher's last gasp. So far: no more gopher digging. New Jasmine plant purchased to replace dead one. Now... we wait.

I’ve tried the expensive electronic devices but these work better for us. As long as I can find the underground trail and quickly seal up the hole opening the smoke must be going where it needs to because after using these they move next door.

Ended up using the entire pack to try and get rid of a gopher here in So. Cal. Even tried a trick I learned using a leaf blower to blow smoke into the tunnels. I was hopeful seeing wisps of smoke rising out from all over my backyard, but when checked an hour later there were new mounds. To add insult to injury the gopher seems to have dragged whats left of the smoke bomb into its tunnels somewhere not once but 3 times. 4 attempts with single smokes bombs, tried using 2 at once also, all in the span of maybe 5 hours. Each time I can see traces of smoke rising out of old mounds etc so safe to assume the smoke is making its way through the tunnels. maybe i needed to use the entire pack all at once... Wasted of money and time...

Smoked out a gopher that was eating all my plants, as if it was a smorgasbord. Don’t breathe in the fumes. Be prepared before you light it up. The fuse is fast. Have something to cover the hole. Dirt to seal any of the gaps around the cover so all the smoke stays in his gopher borrow.

I've gone through more than 32 of these. I followed directions carefully. I used doubles. I firmly believe that some are DUDS and don't actually burn. OBTW...use a torch to light them. That way you can put them into the hole and as long as you can see the end of the fuse, it will light. I tried a leaf blower (and you will get gassed too!) and the fumes were coming up all over the place; but the darn critter just moved to a new location. Therefore, I don't think these "KILL"...but just drive them to another spot. My neighbor had the same experience with these. Worth the $$ ??; likely not.
