Fits and works perfectly. **Q: Is there a trick to opening and closing the top? I just received mine and the top does not turn either way** A: Try pushing down a bit and twist it. There may be arrows showing which way to turn to remove as well. I've never had a problem removing the tops. **Q: How long does it last until the carbon has to be replaced?** A: Here is a historical-type answer: I can tell you that I installed this on my rooftop sewer vent in September 2002. It completely eliminated the strong sewer gas odor that permeated the neighborhood (especially on rainy days). Carbon already installed Top is unnecessarily hard to remove - i get you want it secure - but i shouldn't need 2 screwdrivers to get it off ! My only suggestion to the manufacturer would be to have the bottom taper just a little to make it easier to insert - it was a struggle to get into my (not quite round) copper pipe and the fit is snnuuuuuuuug.
