This is a large sized candy thermometer that has a clip for a medium to large sized pan. The temperature range is from 100 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. It is accurate and easy to use. It is not mercury; it has a bright red indicator.I live near sea level and placed this in a pot of water. When the water started to boil, this read exactly 212 degrees Fahrenheit. If you live significantly above sea level, then water will boil at a lower temperature, the higher you go, the lower the boiling point. Salt water has a higher boiling point.I have used this thermometer when heating honey for mead-making, and to heat sugar to make candy and marshmallows. It has performed very well for all tasks. Overall I have used this many times and have been very happy with it.

Works good material was a little thin, lightweight and a little big for what I wanted it for.

I have bought many candy thermometers and to my dismay I could not read it, even with my glasses on I could not read it. This thermometer was suggested from a recipe I found. When I received this thermometer, you know I had to make something so I could use it. I made a batch of fudge and let me tell you, I was so impressed, wow, it did not steam up where you couldn't read it and the best thing also, is, it has a gourd at the bottom so it didn't touch the bottom. What can i say, this is the best thermometer I have ever purchased, that's why I rated it with 5 stars.

It was perfect for making maple sugar. It cleans up easy with just hot water. Very easy to read. The only drawback is the clip. When making candy or sugars you are using a stainless steel pan which are usually pretty thick. The clip is not big enough for the thicker pan and would come loose if not careful.

I love this thermometer! It is so easy to use. With having the "guard" at the end of it you don't have to worry about it touching the bottom of your pot and trying to guess where to place the clip to make sure it doesn't! I use it for candy AND deep frying and it works great for both!

This was part of my daughter Christmas gift, while she was happy, I was surprised at the size. It was larger then what I thought it was going to be, however it worked out just fine. It was easy to read and easy to clean.

When I first received it I was so excited to keep temp on my candy apple mix. After second use the red line had separated and started giving me false readings. I burned up my mix and everything smh. Although product is sturdy and nice the red temp line is horrible

Accurate, easy to attach to side of pan/pot and markings on certain temperatures are quite helpful. Be aware when cleaning that the edges are slightly sharp...I cut myself without realizing when cleaning off the small crevasses near the bottom edge.
