It makes everyday cleaning much more convenient and keeps my floors looking great. ### ⭐ Good hardware, software needs a lot of work *by G***K on January 13, 2026* Edit - this is really a 1* device. The navigation, decision making, logic, etc. on it is SO BAD. A central rug in my living room totally defeats this - it vacuums around it, puts the mop pad on, then climbs on the rug and drives around aimlessly. Why doesn't it vacuum the rug while cleaning the rest of the room? Why does it put the mop pad on before finally going on the rug? I have no idea, and neither does this robot. Worst of all, I have never seen a single update come for this or the L40 I have. Dreame is too busy putting out new models rather than working on the buggy software. Original: As it sits, this is not a $1,600 vacuum. It's not an $800 vacuum. It's not even a $400 vacuum. The hardware is fine, but the software needs a lot of work. I am coming from the robovac family, and their vacuums simply work so much better. Here are just a few of my issues with the X50, which I similarly found to be issues on their L40 line: 1) The app is confusing. There are so many different options, but they are poorly explained and many of them are difficult to distinguish from another setting. It needs to be rewritten by someone with a better handle of English. 2) Cleaning is so inconsistent. I can set it to the same cleaning pattern and get a different result every time. Sometimes it detaches the mop, vaccums, then reattaches and mops. Sometimes it starts off by washing the mop pad and then vacuum. Other times it will wash the mop pad, remove it, start vacuuming, then go back mid-cleaning and reattach the mop. Why? I have checked for firmware updates, deleted the map and recreated it, no dice. 3) It misses large swaths of area to clean. One particular area is along the baseboards under our cabinets. The pictures attached are what the floors under my cabinets look like after it just finished cleaning. The gap between the cabinet and the floor is large enough for the entire vacuum to fit under. Nonetheless, it treats it like an impassable location and will not get next to the baseboard. This would be fine if it did its edge clean/mop extending function, but it refuses to. I have played with all of the settings and I can never get it to extend its mop here. 4) It randomly misses or fails to pick up regular dirt/debris in the middle of the floor. I can run the vacuum in my kitchen and then walk in 5 minutes later and find random crumbs scattered about the middle of the room. 5) Rugs in the middle of the room are hell on this machine. We have a large rug in the middle of our living room and it can easily spend an hour randomly driving over it, around it, cleaning it in random but incomplete directions, etc. It's actually infurirating at times to watch it - it literally spent about 30-40 minutes on it today but still only cleaned about 3/4s of it.
