I bought this head unit for my Mk6 GTI (2013) mainly because i wanted something that could run Apple CarPlay. Shipping was really quick and the radio itself came very securely packed up. Only took about a half an hour to install and that’s including removing the OEM unit. They have made it almost idiot proof, you literally unplug 2 wiring harnesses from the old deck and install into the new one. I believe there were a total of 4 bolts and that was it. I’ve had it now for about 4 months and I can say I’m pretty happy with my choice. It has had a couple odd incessant where it would just shut off while I was driving down the road but it had only happen twice that I can think of. I would say my biggest annoyance with this radio unit would be every time you put the car into reverse a message would pop up saying “The rear view camera is not available” (shown in a picture above) and it won’t go away until you acknowledge it. You are able to get that removed via VAGCOM or by actually installing a rear view camera. (Theres an unused port meant to install a camera and the radio comes with the wiring needed) just have yet to get around to it. All in all I think this is a great pick for someone who just wants a little more out of their older VW. It’s not the nicest radio out there by any means but for the price and the shear ease of install it almost a no brainer. You’re able to have Apple CarPlay and android auto in any VW for the most part for around $300. All my steering wheel buttons still work fine, and now I have the option to install an OEM style rear view camera. I would definitely recommend this radio

Good upgrade for 2012 Jetta SE. also purchased the backup camera that replaces the trunk latch. All items were plug and play. This radio did not work on my 2010 Volkswagen CC though. It did not shut off, factory back up camera did not work, park pilot did not work even though I coded it in the radio to have it.

I have had this radio in my car for months and it worked amazing! I did have occasional problems with it not turning on or not connecting to my phone, or even the screen just turning black. I even had the power button break so it no longer had that crisp button feel to it, just a mushy feel that turned off the radio whenever I tried to change the volume. But today it all died, I was driving home and realized I couldn’t change the volume, I thought weird, so I turned it off and on again but when I turned it on it just went black, like it struggled loading or something, if I tap the settings button it works, but the radio, app, media buttons all just bring me to a blank black screen. Can anyone help? I really don’t want to buy another radio for $400

This thing works great!!! Installed into my 2012 VW Passat TDI SEL with Fender Audio. There are some reviews online that say there's no sound when you have Fender Audio. This is true, BUT all you have to do is disconnect and reconnect the car battery after you install the new radio and your sound will come right on! No extra coding necessary. Very simple. Total install (including disconnecting and reconnecting the battery) took 20 mins tops. I took the risk ordering this not knowing of the battery trick would work, so I hope this review helps anyone with Fender Audio out. (I also had this same type of radio in my 2011 VW Jetta TDI and 2013 VW Jetta SportWagen TDI, no issues) Never had the battery drain problems that some people talk about either.

I installed this in my 2011 VW Jetta Wagon TDI to replace a super weird older aftermarket stereo the previous owner had in the car. It installed super easily, all I needed was an 11-1 screwdriver and I was good to go. It's super straightforward and if you need any help just refer to a Youtube video. This radio is exactly like the one in my 2018 Sportwagen, touch screen is very clear and responsive. It links up nicely with bluetooth when I don't have my iPhone plugged in but I can not for the life of me figure out how to get FM radio set up as it is 100% set up for China/Japan radio frequencies. So, if you don't care to listen to the radio ever and rely on music from your phone then definitely buy this, if not then maybe still buy it and bring it to your local car audio store and see if they can figure it out.

Everything was working, but now the volume knob turns it on and off when I twist it. Also it cannot figure out how to use my phone when connected by usb and Bluetooth at the same time. Please help!Big improvement if it worked.

I purchased this unit in early 2019, it is still working as well as it did when purchased. I have no complaints about sound quality of use ability. It will occasionally glitch and back screen on Apple Car Play, turning it off and back on or unplugging my phone resolves this issue. I also have very few connection issues. My only real complain is the placement of the usb port being on the front of the unit, which is a very minor issue of preference.

If you have a VW you can’t go wrong with this. Plug n play and looks OEM. Great product
